Well stated AVO and have always loved that pic of your GMT basking in the sunAmor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:36 am I think there are plenty of watch owners who think they need:
A 600m dive watch with HE valve to jump in a pool
A gigantic pilot watch to fly with Easyjet
A Motorsport chronograph to watch Lewis on the telly, or to boil an egg
A GMT/Worldtimer to go to France for a weekend
A super-subtle dress watch for those classy soirées in Playa de las Americas...
...and so on...
It is, of course, total BS, but loads of us have gone through it.
BTW, I actually DO take a 600m GMT on holiday, but my C60 600 Trident GMT does everything. I never travel with any other watch these days. No brainer.

Deep sea diving for Oldies

Small collection of timepieces that I enjoy
Re: Deep sea diving for Oldies
I've got one too. I remember the old joke about Range Rovers - they only go off road when they are parked on the pavement outside a wine bar.Thermexman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:07 am I own a 4x4 car because I occasionally have to put two wheels up on the grass verge outside my Son’s house. Parking is limited there and the grass is sometimes wet!

Re: Deep sea diving for Oldies
I wear a 600m diver in the 1m kiddies pool with my son.
A driver/chrono when visiting Goodwood, Brands Hatch, even when spectating.
Sometimes a GMT when traveling as it the extra orange hand makes me feel 'different' from everyone else on the Eurostar.
A dress or vintage when going to the micropub 500yds from my house on a Friday.
A tool watch for housework or garden clearing.
I also have posh dress for the black tie events now attend approx once every 5-6 years...
I need none of these and nobody cares what I have on my wrist (if anything) apart from me.. it just makes me happy

Never a truer word was spoken. Unless perhaps you changed “cares” to “notices”...Soporsche wrote:...nobody cares what I have on my wrist (if anything) apart from me.. it just makes me happy

Haha, good observation. Most of those that notice dont care
Exception being close friends who will actively enquire as we support each others interests/passions and/or that rare breed that is fellow watch enthusiasts.
Point is I wear what makes me happy (as Im sure everyone on here does), not what will attract others attention/accolades. Its nice though on the rare occasion it happens

Indeed. To me it’s purely the thought that at any moment you could, even if you never will.
My C60 Elite 1000 has been on several dives to 18m (60feet), which is the maximum the PADI certification I have allows for. 1.8% of theoretical maximum leaves some room for manoeuvre.

At least your Elite 1000 is being used for its intended purpose.McDaWisel wrote:Indeed. To me it’s purely the thought that at any moment you could, even if you never will.

That reminds me of the old joke - the only time a Range Rover goes off road is when it is parked on the pavement outside a wine bar.Thermexman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:07 am I own a 4x4 car because I occasionally have to put two wheels up on the grass verge outside my Son’s house.
