CW Retro Dive Watches

Post by timor54 » Thu Nov 07, 2019 1:03 pm

Just went to the CW site the look at the clearance section, as one does...

They have introduced a new top level category of Retro Dive Watches which consists of all the C65 variants including the military models. These have in turn been removed from the Dive Watch category which now only contains the past and present C60 models.

Are the C65’s no longer regarded as ‘true’ dive watches?

Discuss.

I wouldn't regard the C65 range as "true" dive watches

Maybe CW are getting prepared for their Cushion Case watch currently being developed (hinted at during London and Bristol GTGs).

The lack of a screw-in crown was an indication that these were more for casual than deep diving. They're vintage in both looks and specification in that regard. I thought the dive section was a bit crowded when viewing it so this is a good thing IMO.

Oris split their dive watches into three sections: Aquis, Divers and ProDviers. Why shouldn't CW do something similar? It seems a logical split to me and pushes the notion that the C60 and C65 are separate ranges with different characters. It's good marketing.

Aligned with above comments. C60 has screw down crown so it’s a true dive watch.

C65 should be under Sports Watch IMO
Small collection of timepieces that I enjoy
