My 3,000th post

Post by Viognier » Sun Sep 29, 2019 6:47 pm

Noticed earlier this week, I was encroaching on 3,000 posts on the CW forum. Not a huge milestone by forum standards as I'm sure (at time of writing) Ferg is closing in on 40,000 posts and Kip is probably at about 1.2 Million..... but its significant for me.

I joined this forum 2,680 days ago in May 2012 and according to my profile, I average 1.12 posts per day.

In 2012, I was searching online at affordable watches similar to a co-workers and was looking at the Citizen Promaster Diver and that led me to the Steinhart OVM. Whilst looking at the OVM, I found a thread comparing the Steinhart Divers to the CW C60's, and at that point I signed up at our forum and have been ever since!

I went through all the phases of watch collecting; buying my first proper watch (CW C60 Charcoal), then quantity (I purchased many and had a collection of 16 on hand at one point), and now I've downsized to fewer of better quality.

I've learned a ton from this forum in terms of watch knowledge and truly credit Christopher Ward the brand for igniting this passion for me. There are many forum members here who have helped me with PM message replies, my numerous questions and have always steered me in the proper direction. Thank you for your counsel as many of you reading this will know that we've been in contact over the years!

Many forum members have unknowingly influenced as well by sharing their pictures and watch experiences. I've tried each style of watch and determined via buying, wearing and selling off what didn't captivate me. What does work for me is still included in my modest sized collection, which still boasts two CW's.....including one from 2012 purchased the year I joined.

Here's what the forum means to me: I post to share, I post to provide feedback and I read to gather more watch learnings from my fellow CW members.

I don't always spend as much time posting here as I'd like (Fly Fishing, my other passion, keeps me focused in my spare time during Spring, Summer and Fall). I often pop in to have a read, catch up and hopefully learn!

Thank you all for contributing to that learning!

My Best,
Viognier

Congratulations on the milestone. Posting is not always about quantity, but quality....and you have had some great ones.

Thanks for being a long time supporter and contributor to this forum. Hopefully you will remain for many years to come. I am glad that we have been able to help you on your horological journey.

Congratulations, Lance. You have a history of really telling and well thought out posts.

Top notch Lance.

I believe we have enjoyed a few mutual transactions via the sales corner over the years and I seem to recall, upon your suggestion, buying a Sottomarina (something) or two in the early days of my journey to WISdome.

Here's to your next 3,000 posts; may they be as enjoyable as your first.

Congratulations Lance.

It's always interesting to read your posts and contributions. And it's been great to share a few horological thoughts and ideas with you over the years. Keep the posts coming - don't let those fish take all your attention! ;)

Congratulations Lance my friend !!
I have always enjoyed your posts throughout the years and more importantly friendship.
Lance The Enabler even helped with a transaction from overseas, including one of his own collection at one stage which I was very grateful for.
I also enjoyed watching your collection change over the time to what you have now.
Looking forward to many more posts ;)

Congratulations on the milestone Lance. As to your posting rate being lower than some (mine included) I dare say it could be that you don’t waffle on like ... ahem ... myself.
