My tastes have changed

Post by Gasman »

I have about 10 luxury watches Rolex,Omega,Tudor,IWC. But now I am looking at and buying Oris,CW and Lum-Tec.
I am turning away from the expensive watches and finding the more budget versions more interesting. Also I’m turning away from SS and liking Bronze I have 5 of them now.
Am I unusual or do others change like the wind? What do you think? Not too much abuse please

I think as an interest in horology develops, we see more things to like in less expensive watches which all have sometimes unique and interesting features. 262 kHz quartz, Powermatic 80 cosc (silicon hairspring), atomic, bluetooth, T100 from companies like Nite, Vostoks, because they're well...Vostocks...etc..

Your money, your choice, but anyone with several watches in their collection, stepped away from “normal” some time ago.

A similar thread to this one?

I still enjoy wearing watches at both ends of the spectrum. Have also never really thought of watch collecting in terms of luxury, entry level luxury, enthusiast brands, fashion brands etc.. . They are just watches.

I may change my mind in the future, but it would take something rather drastic to turn away from my better watches.

Your comment on bronze watches is interesting, as that is an area that I haven’t really looked into. Haven’t got further than thinking I would probably want any bronze watch I had to remain relatively untarnished.

You mention you now have 5 bronze watches, any chance of some pics please, as it would be good to see the ones you have gone for?

Sorry for any duplication. It’s not done on purpose I think it’s an age thing.
Won’t start any threads again will just reply to them.
