Ooooh, now I get it. Still don't like it. Thanks for the comment.
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…

Except CW use the trapezoidal date window on their SH21 powered C60 Tridents, including the Apex too.DavecUK wrote:All harks back to that Mid 60s retro vibe.watchaholic wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 5:16 pm Nit picking here, but the trapezoidal shape of the window bothers me more than the color of the wheel. Makes it appear cramped.
The aesthetic works for me, as the top and bottom edges of the date window follow the natural line from the centre to the edge of the dial. More noticeable give the large dial and fully outboard positioning of the date window.

The MKII C60 Trident COSC SH21 has a regular rectangular date window; noticed as I'm wearing mine today and debating with myself whether I should let it go, to help fund my C60 Apex (which has got the trapezoidal date window).

I suppose I shouldn't say this but when at CW towers Adrian proudly showed me some of the watches he had worked on that represented the best of the best. Without thinking, I picked up the Apex, quickly looked at it and was quite dismissive with "it's not for me at all, looks like something a rapper would wear".Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 8:16 am debating with myself whether I should let it go, to help fund my C60 Apex (which has got the trapezoidal date window).

In my minds eye, strapping on an Apex, would have been like me strapping on a pair of these
Now I have finished insulting Apex owners, it's just a bit of humour because a mate of mine thought it looked fantastic and I realise it's full of premium materials etc.. In truth it's probably because I have always find it hard to like skeletonised watches...don't know why.
I guess I'm just a boring old git nowadays...

Marketing spiel from the latest CW email:
If the C65 Trident Collection captures the look of the ‘60s dive watches worn by Sean Connery as 007, then the inclusion of our in-house movement Calibre SH21 – present in automatic form with power reserve and small second subdials – means this 150-piece limited edition represents the modern-day capabilities of Daniel Craig.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Unless Daniel Craig becomes a brand ambassador for CW, then all these Bond references are just pure garbage I'm afraid.

I generally try to not be too critical, as my Momma always said, " if you can't say something nice..." But this is pure drivel. Who hires these people? Better yet who approves the copy before it goes to print? Almost embarrassing.

No, it is embarrassing and runs counter to any aspirations to a premium brand. It actually cheapens it.
Re. the logo position, people won't buy because of it, but some most certainly will not, for the same reason.

“5 Days Power” —> “Chronometer”.
White date vs beige numerals.
Otherwise I quite like it.

It does look fine for a rational, healthy human. The OCD maniacs that frequent watch fora will never be happy with anything. There is always something wrong no matter what until you remove all class and individuality and are left with what most people think is crap.Kip wrote:If I remember correctly the protocol was for the logo to be at 9 unless it did not work with the design/dial layout. The layout is determined by the chosen movement.
In this case i think it looks just fine all around. I must admit I am seriously considering this as my next one. While the overall design may not ring true to the design concept of the original C65 Trident Diver, I think this is a great looking watch with a great movement.
I like the logo. I like the logic of moving it to where it works. I don’t have mental health issues that I’m aware of.
