September, a busy month for new releases

Post by Squalus »

I receive a letter today from CWL, in which it states the model releases for September. It stated the models we are expecting, such as the C60 Apex, the C60 Ombre, and the Military Collection but it also mentioned four additional models that I haven't heard of yet.

I’ve not seen the letter, so interesting to hear. Could be an expensive month for some though. Let’s hope they all look terrible.

Did it just say 4 other watches or state them each by name?

Mentioned was a "C65 Trident Diver 316L and Diver SH21", a C65 Ombré, and a "C3 British Racing Green".

The wording in the second paragraph gave me the impression that all of these are to be released next month but the last line stated "over the coming months".

I imagine these models would be on display at the London GTG, with the timing of this letter and all that.

The bronze C65 looks rather attractive.

Six new models published on the website today and I'm sure many owners will be happy.

C3 Grand Tourer, nice dial but too small for me
C65 Yellow - not a fan, too similar to the C60 Mk2 Trident Yellow, a missed opportunity for a different colour
C65 SH21 S/S LE - very nice, but pricey
C60 Apex - not a fan but true CW fans will buy to keep if they can afford it, just don't sell it
C60 Ombre - Bronze Ombre was original and I'm genuinely not sure about it's looks
C65 Ombre - This model's never clicked with me probably due to the size - 500 will be a lot to shift.

Lasting thought is price and yes they may be nice watches, but CW are not the great value proposition that they once were.

Not CW bashing, just typing what I see and think.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Always nice to see some new releases.

2 things immediately struck me ...

The dial on the C65 LE should be more subdued imo to go with the vintage aesthetic. I was thinking we may have seen pastel tones.
Leave the bold colours for the C60 range.

Also it's a crying shame the C65 SH21 subdials couldn't be done at 3&9 with the date at 6.
That'd be a game changer I reckon.

Overall some very decent looking efforts with the C65 bronze immediately grabbing my attention.
Can see that model being very popular.

The C3 Grand Tourer is a great evolution of the earlier C70 DBR and Brooklands model. Plus being quartz, won't break the bank.

Doing the C65 yellow 316L (bracelet is a must to go with the steel bezel) has a hint that there will be a range of these in the future (just a hunch, no inside info) to mirror the C60Trident MkII 316L series. Collectable?

Yup; C60 Apex is an acquired taste (mine is ordered).

Ombres? Don't like the distressed dial; seems, in some way, false.

Silly question time, would the Bronze on the C65 Ombre LTD Ed develop its own patina?

Cheers!

I don't see why not. I would expect the patina to develop as per the other bronze watches.
