I saw a full page ad for the Bluebird in an in-flight magazine (Monarch Airlines I think) around 2009. Didn’t end up buying one, but got interested and joined the forum, eventually ending up with 3 C60s and a C7 Rapide, which is where I am today.
My name is 0uatiOW, but before you ask, no I don’t.

Looking to buy a 'proper' watch, back in the spring 2012, I'd thought about and handled a Tag Monaco, but then saw the CW C11 MSL featured on the watch page in EVO magazine.

One thing lead to another.

I was looking to treat myself to an automatic watch that had a nice, clean style and ideally from an English brand but Swiss made.

Google did the easy part of finding CW, C65 Trident Vintage black purchased shortly after. C60 Trident bronze has followed that along with an Elliot Brown after seeing them in the non CW of the day section of this great forum.

"Google" in short really.

Sold a rather problematic jump hour watch but wanting a more affordable one with a bit of twist. Came down to Chronoswiss (having 24 hours disc) & CW JH MKI (having roman numerals).

Gosh, it was almost 10 years ago!
I had sold a car I'd spent many hours and lost lots of blood, sweat and tears to rebuilding, sold for not actually that much money. I decided to treat myself a little with the proceeds to remember the car and the ones that had come and gone before it. (A bit stupid really, in hindsight, as I actually needed money more than a watch at the time) Someone posted on a forum I was reading somewhere about a Nearly New sale on a watchmakers site, called Christopher Ward. Who I discovered were based around the corner from my parents. Then I saw the Yellow Kingfisher and I was smitten.

I'm wearing the Kingfisher today and in fact it's been my daily wear for a while now. I sometimes wish it was the automatic Orange sunburst one but I still love it.

I discovered Christopher Ward on a men’s style blog I follow. They had a nice review of the C60 and were giving one away. That led me to the website, where I’d check in every now and then. Fast forward a few years to the months leading up to my wedding. My wife asked if I’d like a nice watch as a wedding gift...YES PLEASE! We visited the website with the intention of getting a C60, but instead I selected the C65 Trident Vintage, mk1. No regrets getting the C65 over the C60.

In 2018, out of pure curiosity, I wanted to find out if there were any UK businesses that specialised in luxury modern style dive watches. Google quickly pointed me to CW, and several purchases followed since then, all Trident C60 watches, absolutely delighted.

Started out looking for a diver to celebrate a promotion about three years back. CW was on a lot of lists for best < $1000 diver and so I started browsing and fell in love with the Red/White 38mm Trident GMT. As my mom's family is originally from Little Horwood Bucks just 30 some odd miles North of Maidenhead I took that as a sign and on a spring sale bought my first "nice" watch. A year later I picked up my C8 Flyer. I'm wearing the GMT as I type this.

Found it as I was searching for a Steinhart OVM. Ended up with both Steinhart OVM and C60 Charcoal bezel.

C60 Scooter LE still in my collection however the OVM departed within months.
Small collection of timepieces that I enjoy

How did you first hear about Christopher Ward

Post by McDaWisel » Sat Aug 03, 2019 11:10 pm

Earlier this year, watching an episode of the Urban Gentry on YouTube. Since then learned that he isn’t necessarily liked by everyone, but I must say he got me into Christopher Ward, and for that I am thankful. I bought 4 of their watches since February, returned one that didn’t fit and I am selling one that was replaced by a better CW model.

My C60 Trident Mk3 Elite 1000 shares equal wrist time with a Sinn 103, both way ahead of anything else.

Just looked back at my first post and was end of Nov 2010. I'd bought a NN C8 Pilot Mk II with a cream dial, and I vaguely remember getting a free watch winder as a perk for being a member of the forum.

Fast forward nearly 9 yrs later and 17 x CW watch purchases, im now possibly adding the FLE if it goes ahead as no 18.Image

I was looking for a simple faced watch with day date similar to a tag Carrera day date and came across the c9 big day date which I liked better than the tag and there was a sale on and it was a no brainer after that. At the time I also came across the moon phase and the orange bezel c60 trident 300 (omega planet Ocean - another desired watch) and I was hooked.

From one of the forums I hang out with. Some of the guys posted CW watches, and CW watches have caught my eyes.

I first came across CW at the start of 2018 when a popular YouTuber who reviews cars posted a picture of an Orange C60 Trident 300 to match his car the watch caught my eye.
Image
I don't own a watch currently, and I'm in the market for a versatile diver that I can daily for work + play. I'm 100% sure I want a diver, but not comfortable spending thousands on an Omega, hence why CW has got me interested.
I would like to dip my toe in the water with a 38mm Trident 300 but it is only being offered in 43mm at the moment which is unfortunately too big.
I am now looking at a 40mm Trident 600 instead.
Image
I plan to make a trip to the CW Showroom soon as I am only about a 1 and a half hour drive away.

I must say, reading into the CW Facebook page reviews and topics on this forum, I am concerned about the amount of complaints of service. Even the Trident 300 is still a lot of money and I feel like the warning signs are too much to ignore.
