Slight signs of wear #2

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS » Mon Jul 01, 2019 11:42 pm

A bit of deja vu here for those who remember the original Slight signs of wear topic.

This time the description was;- "Pvd shows some signs of wear on edges and there are some scratches."

With the accompanying photos.

Well? Subject to me being around for the Postie in the morning, we'll find out what it is really like.

That looks like the previous owner used a cement mixer as a watch winder!

Whatever the condition, that’s a bargain. If the wear is as it appears, would you consider having the PVD blasted off?
Trying not to buy any more watches...

Well done Guy
A great project perhaps.

Just noticed that it has the original logo, I haven't seen the green C600 with the original logo before, just the Chr WARD one 8)

Definitely under consideration Alex.

I've reread your Modified C600 Tri-Tech Elite topic a few of times in the past couple of days and also taken a look at the MotorCity WatchWorks website.

Bead blasting is a possibility but I'm intrigued and attracted to getting it Cerakoted.

Let's see what it looks like to start with.

Decent pickup that Guy

You could have a go at painting the bezel numerals as well. Green for the 5, 10 & 15 and white for the rest 8)
Plenty of threads on t'internet explaining how to DIY and some look excellent!

Cerakote coating looks very interesting and I believe there are all sorts of interesting colours available, not just ‘Henry Ford black’.

On Instagram I’ve seen some very nice projects done by Tempus Watch Mods, albeit primarily Seiko's.

I’ve no affiliation with him, or personal experience, but he can be found on Instagram and FB.

Postie arrived a few minutes after I got home from walking the dog.

Image

As expected, no box but Certificate of Authenticity shows new in July 2011.

Image

Watch was running / set to correct date & time. Quick look over shows it to be in pretty reasonable condition. Few marks on the underside of the lugs, and wear on the bezel is smooth and even (shirt / jacket / coat sleeve).

To leave as is or to refurbish? That is the question.

Just out of interest, did you go for this after I gave a heads up on the three CW's at RLT on Facebook at the weekend ?

Hi Pat,

Yes. just been posting about it on the CWE.

An enormous vote of thanks to you for flagging it up in the first place. I took a punt on it, figuring that for £149 I was unlikely to lose out. Not wrong.

Thanks again.

I thought about it for myself but I have gone a bit mad this year with £13k spent so far and a big purchase in the offing in the next couple of weeks. I have purchased a few watches from Roy when he used to assemble his own. he is a good bloke to deal with.

I know what you mean Pat, having been somewhat prolific with my purchases over the last year or so.

However, I sold my C60 Trident Chrono 300 over the weekend which more than covers this one, along with a bundle of straps for my Breguet XX (happy coincidence, if truth be told).

I think it has a nice look to it so I'd say leave it as is Guy.
Congratulations on a great pick up mate !
