Another Elite 1000 (mk3) arrived!

Post by Twan-Sloot »

Hi guys,

The wait was long but that only makes it more fun right? I guess, at least I looked at pictures for more than a month :D . So for the folks out there who are waiting for theirs to arrive, here are some pictures of mine. As for now no problems at all quality appears to be top notch, will keep you informed on the timekeeping and how that hybrid straps loosens up.
The strap seemed comfortable the first hour, then it started itching because it was a little to stiff and now it’s fine again, we’ll see how it develops haha.

The case of the watch is beautiful, the details of different machining finishes play very well with the light absolutely great! The only doubt I had when I first put it on the wrist was the orange strap, it just draws attention. I haven’t had a watch with such vibrant colors before so that took me a few hours to get used to, but that’s what I wanted haha.
It makes the watch unique.

As for the new packaging it complements the watch very well, the finish and fit of the wood into the leather like box is apple worthy, it even has magnets in the wood to close it up the last centimeter. Booklets and everything look nice as well. Just a box you would expect on a watch in this price range.

Now picture time!

Ps: one question for current owners, how waterproof is that hybrid strap, salt water proof, swimming pool proof? Let me know how it holds up, Thanks!

Congrats great pics!

As for the strap I swapped mine out already, but it appears to be sturdy enough for most conditions.

Nice pictures!

While not the most comfortable, the strap seems bulletproof. I am happy to take that trade-off.

It’s been on 2 salt water scuba dives (down to 18 meters) in the Atlantic with me and has done plenty of pool time, has been covered in sunscreen as well been to the gym a couple of times. My 18 month old daughter also managed to grab it one morning and tried to take a bit out of it. Still looks and feels brand new. I always rinse the watch and strap after those activities to get salt, choline and sweat off it, and everything seems to just wash off easily.

I will be ordering a second one to keep just in case they stop making them as I feel it makes the watch.

Thanks to all of you and will keep you updated on the watch.

McDaWisel, great to hear the strap is bulletproof I indeed am happy to make the trade of over a more subtle rubber, I love to be able to use this strap as the watch was intended, for use in water. Besides that more subtle rubbers most time catch dust on it as well, this one does not.

This is going to be a great vacation watch, and I indeed think the strap makes the watch as well.

Slept the first night with the watch on the wrist and no complaints on the strap so far. Still sturdy but good enough.

Timekeeping still looks spot on but 16 hours isn’t a real test haha. Will tell that in week from now.

Congrats on that beauty! Thanks for the great photos. Great to see owner photos and hear true evaluations. I too chose it for it's sportiness, among all the other strong attributes. Omega is utilizing the same color schemes with fitted colorful straps. I too compared the CW packaging to Apple Inc. Great presentation. I've yet to receive mine, but enjoying the CW Bronze 600 in the meantime.

You say you wore the watch through the night? How is the luminosity through the night with their new compound?

Thanks again & enjoy your new Timepeice!

I have the standard Blue MK2 and wear it on this strap. It looks great.

It is true that it is not the most comfortable, but it is far from being the worst. I think the problem is that it is rather thick.

Nevertheless, the quality is outstanding, and the looks are killer ! I'm happy to take that trade-off too.

For scuba diving it's probably too short (to go over a wet suit an ISO style is the best), but as a summer strap I like it very much.

Yes strap is definitely a looker very nice, especially on sunny days. Can’t take my eye of the watch haha.

As for the new lume, I don’t have a previous trident to compare it to but it was pretty good last night, even visable after a few hours of darkness, I did charge it before going to bed, looked at the watch in the dark with the flashlight haha, but after that it was legible until I fell a sleep.

Will give a more detailed description in a few days

True, I didn’t put it over the wetsuit, but directly on the wrist. I would not have fit over the wetsuit.

Re: lume — I like to wear a dive watch to sleep in, so lume matters to me. On my Mk 3 pro, the lume definitely lasts all night, and I can make out the time without my glasses (despite my eyesight not being the best). This said, my Breitling Colt Chronograph is much brighter in lume, and equally long lasting. I think that the Mk 3 does edge out the Oris Aquis for lume, while the bezel action on the Mk 3 is much superior.

Quick question for the other Elite owners here: What does your manual winding sound and feel like? I have a few watches with the SW200 movement and the Elite feels a little rough to wind - I have a video here. The first 10-15 turns feel a little rough and uneven, then it becomes a little more steady. Is that normal behavior?

Make sure you enable sound!

Hmm that doesn’t sound like mine if I recall correctly, but only wound it once when I got it out of the box, have been wearing it since so I can’t get check how it sounds paying attention. Will upload the same vid as you did once I have the watch put aside for a while and ready for a wind up.

Probably not this week, love to wear it now

Mine is exactly like that too, and like yours it gets smooth after a couple time.
