Serial number help

Post by Djwoody » Wed Apr 10, 2019 5:35 pm

Hi.
I purchased an 'as-new' C60 Trident Proo 600 from a seller on another forum.

The serial number on the back of the watch, does not match the serial number on the warranty card. Should I be concerned?

Regards
Chris

Yes.

It's like having the V5c Registration Document for your car and the number doesn't correspond to the number on your car.

Contact the seller pronto and query it.

Were there photos as part of the sale listing. Do they correspond?

The seller stated the serial number was 0603 in the listing, but the warranty card was not shown. It was purchased in November 2015.
The serial on the warranty card is 1231 with a start date of January 2016.

Is the warranty card for the correct model of watch or a different one? Might just be an honest mix up if he’s got several for sale?

The model on the warranty states: C60-42-AUTO-SKWK.

This watch has the CHR. WARD logo, black bezel and black waves dial. Is that correct?

I should imagine if you contact C Ward they'll no doubt hold a cross-referred record of serial numbers, models and customer details to help clear up any concern or confusion?

Had this with a Tissot a few years back and they were able to highlight an ebay scam by looking at their records. Not saying this is definitely a scam of course. Good luck.

Someone with more knowledge of model numbers than me might correct me here, but that number sounds like its a C60 Black Bezel, White Dial?

From a quick google search, it looks like its the White Dial, and Black Leather strap. Not my watch.
I'm going to message the seller. Either its an honest mistake (has a few for sale and a mix up), or there's something not right.

SK = silver case/black bezel
W = white dial
K = black leather strap

Though designated 42mm, the case size is actually 43mm overall.

You are close, but not quite correct.

S=silver case - K=black dial - W=white bezel - K =black strap.

The issue here is that CW never built a black dial with white bezel except for a prototype. Perhaps the code in the manual is actually a V as there was an SKV variant. V= Green. Then the serial number would make more sense, albeit still not correct for the watch received.

Here is the photo of the SKW prototype, courtesy of Paul Drawmer.

I'm amazed if that is indeed the case. From an auditing perspective that is unusual unless it is a personal data retention/legal matter. Oh well, hope this all works for the Op.

Apologies, Kip has it.

To confirm I checked my own C60 certificate and I have transposed incorrectly dial and bezel letters, but I knew that there was no white bezel so the OP's certificate did not make sense.

Curiouser and curiouser!
