I have always wondered this myself, you are just denying yourself the enjoyment of that particular watch, I doubt the manufacturer would care that much as they have already sold the watch.Thermexman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:49 pm Just as an aside, why do peeps sell off watches they previously liked just because they have a spat with the maker? Surely that’s cutting off your snout to spite yer fizzog? ...is it meant to “teach ‘em a lesson?”

Re: Disappointed with Christopher Ward
Seems strange to lose exactly 5 minutes in a day; not 4 mins 30 secs or 6 mins.
I've had watches that have been 5 minutes out; purely because I set them wrongly to start with.

Re: Disappointed with Christopher Ward
But surely, if it transpires that the watch has a fault with the mechanism but is worn and subsequently scratched, all CW are obliged to do is offer a repair?
I would agree that a replacement or a refund should be offered if the watch is blemish free.
The scratch is not irrelevant.
Steve.
Re: Disappointed with Christopher Ward
I was always under the impression that if the fault was within a certain time you could demand a replacement or refund as it was classed as not fit for purpose.Thermexman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:18 pmBut surely, if it transpires that the watch has a fault with the mechanism but is worn and subsequently scratched, all CW are obliged to do is offer a repair?

He doesn’t want it though as he can’t read it without his reading specs!

Following on from my previous post I have just spoken to my son who is at University training to be a Lawyer & he directed me towards the Consumer Rights Act 2015 & it does state on there that you have 30 days from date of purchase or delivery to reject a faulty item for a full refund or replacement.Bounce wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:32 pmI was always under the impression that if the fault was within a certain time you could demand a replacement or refund as it was classed as not fit for purpose.Thermexman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:18 pmBut surely, if it transpires that the watch has a fault with the mechanism but is worn and subsequently scratched, all CW are obliged to do is offer a repair?

I thought he was keeping it as a bracelet.Thermexman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:44 pmHe doesn’t want it though as he can’t read it without his reading specs!
But at least if it's repaired, it could be sold on if required, without fault.

Yes I see but, if you’ve damaged it, surely that changes things?Bounce wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:52 pmFollowing on from my previous post I have just spoken to my son who is at University training to be a Lawyer & he directed me towards the Consumer Rights Act 2015 & it does state on there that you have 30 days from date of purchase or delivery to reject a faulty item for a full refund or replacement.Bounce wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:32 pmI was always under the impression that if the fault was within a certain time you could demand a replacement or refund as it was classed as not fit for purpose.Thermexman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:18 pm

Re: Disappointed with Christopher Ward
Dave, sorry to hear of these issues you have had.
However, regardless of getting a refund or not, CW would certainly be obliged (and I'm sure they would) repair the watch if indeed it has an issue, therefore there is no need to keep it to merely "wear as a bracelet". I don't understand why you wouldn't at least get it repaired as a) you still like the watch and b) you would then be able to enjoy and use it after repair.

Re: Disappointed with Christopher Ward
I've returned quite a few CW's over the last few years and never had a problem with the refund, other than chasing them to process. I've never worn any returns, so I believe the process to be fair.
If the movement has issues, get them to fix it and then sell the watch on eBay. If it was bought NN you shouldn't lose out too much, if at all.

Re: Disappointed with Christopher Ward
Brilliant
I'm sure there are a few on here who do exactly that.
It's odd that the OP's biggest disappointment was the fact that he wore it, couldn't see it clearly without glasses, scratched it, then couldn't get a full refund, and NOT the fact it was losing 5 minutes per day. Priceless
