Watch strap repair

After purchasing the yellow Trident C60 316L i managed to do this in the space of a month! :(

I had hoped that Christopher Ward would be able to repair it, or replace as a gesture of goodwill as i have purchased 4 watches in the last year! Sadly, i have been advised it cannot be repaired and i'd need to buy a new watch strap.

So my question is... is there a high street place that could stick on a generic loop on to the watch strap to save me the cost of a new strap?

This part is called a keeper.

Replacement "keepers" are difficult to obtain and usually require a donor strap. There are generic keepers available, but they rarely fit well or match. A local dealer may have some to try.

If you search "leather watch strap keeper" on ebay, there are a loads, costing only a couple of pounds, avaiable in all widths (yours I'm guessing 22mm). I have bought replacement ones before and they have been ok. Possibly not as nice as the original but for the money a good option and the difference may be hard to spot. Example of one linked

Kip beat me too it!

Presumably this is the floating / moveable keeper from a yellow backed/stitched Soft Touch leather strap.

Donor strap? Simples!

Being of a larger wrist size, I often find the floating keeper to be redundant and frankly a pain as it then slips round the strap; such that I remove it and just work with the fixed keeper.

As I have a couple of yellow soft touch leather straps I'm sure I can let you have one of the (redundant) keepers I have - PM sent.

Great stuff from Guy, who incidentally just sent me a freebie NATO strap to match up with the C7 Hornet I bought from him recently. A true gent!

Thank you for all the replies, and as the saying goes... you learn something new every day! :)

Also, thanks to Guy for sending out a redundant keeper, it's very much appreciated.

Playing devils advocate, I would ask what is happening to put that much strain on the keeper to break it like that?

A fair question... I'm a naturally clumsy person, and in this occasion I caught the strap on the kitchen worktop edge, which snapped it! :(

The keepers, on the leather strap that came with my C65, are wafer thin and I have to be extremely careful when I put the strap on as I’m sure they’ll break at some point. They appear to have been made out of the thin veneer that you sometimes find covering cheap leather straps.
