Question about SH21 movement?

Post by ian@ianhampton.co.uk »

Hi, I recently got a C8 M2.04 with the SH21 movement - does anyone know if both spring cans should rotate when winding?
I let the movement run down to less than 1 day reserve, when I wound the movement only one of the spring cans seems to rotate. Is this normal or is there a problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,
Ian

Mine seems to wind one first and the other just follows along at an uneven rate. They don’t all turn together as I wind.

No they don't.

Only one 'can' (with the turbine pattern on it) rotates when winding, although the spring beneath the 'can' will wind on both.

This topic - SH21 Movement - another winding question may help.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I guess it’s normal, the watch keeps good time, and the power reserve lasts for the full five days. Just seemed weird.

Ian,

I found it weird too when I first had my C8PR I couldn't see the second barrel move at all when I wound it . But likewise mine runs well within COSC and for the full five days, so I gave up worrying about it!
