MK I Trident info please
I am trying to build a collection of 38mm Tridents and was wondering about the difference, if any, between a C60 Trident and C61 in 38mm.
I have seen essentially the same watches listed as either a C60 or C61.
To be clear, I'm only really interested in the Mk I models at the moment.
Many thanks

The 38mm Mark 1 Trident was the C61 not a 38mm C60 (might even have also been described as a W61 when it came with a shorter strap).
They are the same watch.

The thing is, even the booklets show C60 Trident 300.
The only thing that I can think of, is that the C60 is a quartz and the C61 an automatic.

No, the Mk1 C60 (and C61) was only available as an automatic. The Mk1 was originally only available in 42mm and was sold that way for many years.MarkingTime wrote:The thing is, even the booklets show C60 Trident 300.

With the introduction of the 38mm case size, it was marketed as the C61/W61 to differentiate it from the larger model. These were all automatics.
When the current MkII was released, the C61 was “brought back” into the C60 model range and the automatic models, in both sizes became the C60 600. This range introduced the new dial.
At the same time, the introduced (for the first time) a quartz model into the Trident range, which became known as the C60 300. The quartz model used the same basic dial as the earlier Mk1 Tridents, which is where your confusion is arising. They look very similar, but Mk1 is always auto (and 38mm) is C61; MkII is both auto and quartz with visual differences between the models.

So, to be clear, MKI 38mm autos are C61 300
MKII autos are C60 600s with new dial
MKII quartz are C60 300 with MKI dial
Have I got it?

Re: MK I Trident info please
...and the only differences between quartz and auto 38mm C60s are the dial, movement and casebook presumably?

Re: MK I Trident info please
Well, the Mk1 versions were only ever known as C60 and C61 - the 600 and 300 tags were only added when the MkII models were released. Apart from being the water resistance rating of each model, it also differentiated the automatic and quartz model lines. It also confused many people who referred to the auto model as the C600 - a model name belonging to an earlier watch - the Tritech Elite.MarkingTime wrote:So, to be clear, MKI 38mm autos are C61 300
