Re: Manchester GTG - Chat with Chris - Saturday 27th April 2019
Appears to be a lot of interest in the GTG, remembering that the CWE Group and CW directly have been promoting the GTG as well.
I need to get names of those attending to CW later today.

Hi Iain, iain wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 10:20 amJust realised if you look on a map, this route seems a bit daft as it appears to take you round manchester and looks a long route.
Don’t be tempted to come off earlier though as it will take you through Manchester as the GTG are on the other side of the city. It is best accessed via this route as it will be quicker then crawling across town.
Iain
I'm coming up from Hertfordshire, can see the merit, and am familiar with, the A1 / M62 / M60 route being straightforward and fast (avoids the M1 / M6 too).
Google maps has suggested an alternative of not going quite as far north up the A1 by turning off at the M18, then M1 onto A628 (Woodhead Pass) and M67 / A57 into Manchester from the South East.
Quite a bit shorter, 25 miles, more entertaining and the same journey time.
Any thoughts or experience?

I have plenty of experience of Woodhead. If you are wanting to try it, its a beautiful drive, just drive carefully. I wouldn't go up to the M18 though, I'd head off at Worksop and across the 57 to join the M1 at J31, then off at Tankersely, through Stocksbridge and onto the 628 that way (it misses out going through Penistone, which can be very busy on a Saturday). I can give you all sorts of different scenic routes through the peaks etc.. if you like

Many thanks for that. All makes perfect sense.
I'm familiar with the first bit of the A57, as I have an Aunt & Uncle in law who live in Worksop.
Also the bit to the M1 is the base of an isosceles triangle. Going to save me 5-10 miles without being appreciably slower.
I thought to do the Woodhead Pass would be interesting as its one of the first to get closed with snow, along with the Snake Pass. I'll come back via the M62.

No probs Guy. When you've been caught on Woodhead and had to sleep on there in your car in the snow it sort of loses its appeal a little Have a safe trip. I'll be heading across the M62 to Wigan to watch us probably get hammered as we have 11 out of our first 17 sat in the stands either injured or suspended! Good chance for some of the kids to step up though. All good funBahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 7:41 pm

Polite reminder that photos of the Trident Mk3 are still embargoed until 1st May, and should not therefore be posted on the Forum.

I agree, it was an excellent gtg!! I’m the chap who was sitting next to you during the questions.
I’ll try to post a few photos of the new C60 later. But currently stuck on the train at Dove Holes as one of the doors is broken!!
