C65 Trident Diver Automatic

Post by hughesyn » Sun Jan 20, 2019 5:58 pm

Not sure if we are allowed to post pictures of this yet, but I thought it looks fantastic.
Similarities to the Oris Divers 65, but they admit that in Loupe. Perhaps unfortunate coincidence that they share the numerals '65'.

I thought the round indexes wouldn't look as good as the rectangular ones, because the C60 looks a lot more modern now it's gone rectangular. However, the overall look is very pleasant imo.

I can even forgive the 9 o'clock logo. Especially after Mike F convinced me it is better (I'm still not totally convinced, I think the increased sales are the full spelling of the name and simple font, not the location, but hey ho).

Anyone know what the score is on posting pics?

I haven't viewed the GTG video recording but is this Auto shown on the video? If so why wouldn't a photo be allowed?

Doesn't seem to be any photos of it on the internet yet?

Here's the front of the latest Loupe:

Normally I prefer baton hour markers to blobs but that is a really nice looking watch. The bezel looks less busy with just numbers on it and but for my usual problem with what's at 9o'clock it would probably get my money especially in the blue.

Were any indicative prices given for this or the other new watches shown at the GTG?

Mick, just reading about the watch in the latest edition of Loupe.

The article mentions that the auto (SW200 movement) will sell at exactly the same price as the handwound.

Thanks Patrick. That sounds like good value to me. Is that the Spring issue of Loupe, given out early at the GTG as the digital version's not on the CW site yet?

Here's a screenshot from the GTG video. Not a great picture, but gives you and idea what it looks like with the black dial.

The other C65 is named C65 Trident Diver so it's a bit confusing they name this just C65 Trident Automatic. Not to be confused with the C65 Trident Vintage dress watch, even though this new model is vintage as well. And a dive watch which is not in the name.

Unless this is just a temporary name. Maybe calling it the C65 Blob would be easiest.

On the picture of the blue dial it looks like the lume is not vintage lume. It's hard to tell on the screenshot of the black dial. If its non-vintage lume it will make some people happy who are not into the vintage patina look.

Thanks.

Swap locations of the name and the flags and that would be a very balanced dial.

The blobs remind me of the c60 MK1. I much prefer the batons on my MK2.
Looks good though.

Not a blob fan either!

Mick, yes that is in the Spring Loupe. Although I couldn't attend the GTG, a kind Guy dropped one in to me this afternoon :)

Are the dimensions for the C65 Trident Automatic identical to the C65 Trident Diver? The YouTube video is quite blurry, but I think the case thickness reads the same 11.55mm which seems unlikely given the thicker SW200 movement.

I’m assuming the Pepsi C65 GMT has the same dimensions as the oringal C65 GMT?

Thanks for any responses.
Best regards,
John

*Original, not oringal. What happened to my usually overzealous autocorrect?
Best regards,
John
