So, there's this watch company..

Post by Paul Drawmer »

That only sells via the Internet. No shops, boutiques, 'Brand Ambassadors'.

They have a flexible pricing model that offer watches at brilliant value at full price; but even better, they have sales regularly, so followers of the brand can buy at discount prices several times a year.

All they need is a brisk and reliable server set up to cope with their self generated peaks of demand.

Just not good enough. The problem isn't new, it needs sorting. People are getting propper pi55ed off.
It's Monday! nothing to do with 'Black Friday' it's all to do with the Archive Sale today.
There's always time for one more.

The odd thing though, is that it’s not as if there were all that many archive watches in any case...

It's midnight and it's still not letting me into the archive section. So, can't be busy just broken!

Yeah, I finally got in to the CW archive sales section, tried a few times today with no luck. Oh well nothing there for me this time but I sure wonder when they will get their server fixed. It has to be very frustrating for anyone who is hot to trot to get a good bargain though.
Cheers, Mike.

I briefly got on the archive section yesterday and did like the look of the Red Rapide Auto but then it froze and I tried a few times to get back on to no avail.
My son is disabled so I needed to concentrate on him, hence I didn't have the time to waste constantly retrying, or to be able to make a decision on a purchase.
I love the brand, this forum and feel they are great watches often at affordable prices, however they really need to sort their website out as every time there is an attractive sale on you often can't get on. I am a little disappointed.

Paul, I'm in total agreement with you.
To be honest it's gone beyond a joke and CW need to pull the finger out of their a$$es and do something about it.

I agree. But as it’s gone on for so long and they still sell the watches, are they even bothered.

They must have the same IT staff as those working on the eBay app. I still have the last 3 years purchases showing up and cannot delete them, despite many users complaining after each update. Again, as sales don’t suffer why should they pull their finger out.

Quite frankly, they should all be embarrassed. But I doubt it!!

I’m looking at the January sales.
If I see something and can’t get on, my money’s going elsewhere!

I’m currently looking at other brands too.

For a company based almost entirely online, you'd think the naivety of running reliable retail servers would be long gone.

Load balancers are easy to configure, the licensing is cheap, running more than 1 web server is easy, and it's relatively straightforward to write "shopping" code that's both persistent user session and conflicting database transactions aware.

Perhaps it's all sub contracted?

Of course you can, because people assume that the best have gone by now (which they have) or are not holding onto web access because they are not trying to buy.

I heard on CWE that there were -two- Prototype C1 WorldTimers going ... just couldnt get onto the Site to view & purchase ... really irked.

I actually spoke with CW himself in November about the quirks I'd encountered when having a Watch serviced - System emails told me to check my Account for Repair status - but it turns out that they only use one's 'Account' to reflect Purchases - and thats not always accurate ...

Seems a strange way to run an Internet business ....
