That gold jumping hour came up on a throwback Thursday post on Instagram. Enquired with Chris about it and I could have had it for £1000, but at 43mm felt it was too big a dress watch for my twig like wrist. Trying not to kick myself right now...

Not usually a one for conspiracy theory’s BUT...

I’d like to know how they went so quickly leaving us mere mortals with little left.
Maybe mods/admisitrators were tipped off and had a chance to get first dibs before the offer went “live”?

Looks like a few mods got lucky? :-k

I found the link from the slideshow section of the CW home page and shared it straight away. I'm not a mod, or connected to CW in any way.
The mods tipped off the forum yesterday for all to keep an eye open.

The nature of these sales is you need to be lucky with timings and act quickly if you want something.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

You think wrong oh skeptical one.

I think they went quickly because a cache of about 50, somewhat rare and unique, pieces watches was advertised via an email blast and on the website to thousands of people at some good prices.

Pure conspiracy.

The only information I had was the same as you.

1. Kip's creation of this topic yesterday.

2. Email from CW; not doubt sent to their full mailing list of which forum members comprise a very small percentage.

3. New topic created here by Chris (@what-time-is-it).

I have not bought anything from the Archive or Prototype sales today.

As it happens, there are several pieces which forum members are wondering about who bought them, that have been bought by members of the CW Enthusiasts FB group.

Suitable answer?

This is the nature of releases such as this one.

There's plenty of historical threads (prior to your joining date?) that discuss the speed with which the watches are snapped up in this type of sale and then turn up on eBay or Forum members show they managed to grab a few in their posts.

The only conspiracy is that somebody at CW has access to my diary as these sales always start when I'm out at the gym for a couple of hours or on the golf course :D

Never mind though as it's saved me plenty of money by missing out on such sales.

I can think of at least one moderator who missed the entire thing through being at work all day.

Just like NN sales...they go fast. Bit of an unnecessary cheap shot towards the mods/Kip to be honest

Calm down chaps was a question that’s all.
I was at work, we can’t all spot these things during the week. Would’ve been handy to release over a weekend. Then us workers would get a bite.

Viognier. Calm down chum, you’ll bust a mainspring.
No need for a drama

You suggested that the mods get preferential treatment. They don't.

Must admit I took the sofa reference too literally and was awaiting some information on watches available purely to forum members, rather than anything on the CW website.

^^^Thank you, Paul.

Maybe a good time to shelve that particular bone of non-contention and focus on celebrating what, if anything, members were able to buy.

The Season of Goodwill is almost upon us. :D

While deliberately choosing not to participate (my next acquisition will almost certainly not be a CW - but that could blow open) I find it encouraging that these pieces all disappeared so quickly, showing lots of enthusiam out there still.

Rather than being miffed at the prospect of mods getting early access to this little sale, I actually feel the opposite. Why weren't the mods given early access? I'd be a bit miffed if I was in their shoes and didn't get a bit of special treatment

I got the email whilst I was at work. Clicked on the link. Saw the C9 GMT.

Hummed. Haaaahed.

Came back two hours later and purchased it.

With these sales its definitely a case of 'you snooze you lose'. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you dont.
