I knew before clicking the link which watch you were on about, I saw it yesterday....yuk!! He was asking a fairly low price however looked like it needed a full re-case plus who knows what else.

Think his price is fair.Thegreyman wrote:I knew before clicking the link which watch you were on about, I saw it yesterday....yuk!! He was asking a fairly low price however looked like it needed a full re-case plus who knows what else.
There have been a few C600s in the sales corner over the last 18 months, in good condition, for £325-£350.
Worst case scenario is a service and recase are required and the buyer will still be in under that.
That's may be all that is required. In which case the buyer got lucky.msdsx wrote:Perhaps there was a shortage of soap and water when the photos were taken

Re: Slight signs of wear....
Well, its not as bad as it might have been;-
Case genuinely just has 'signs of wear', namely areas of the pvd coating on the bezel wearing thin in the 9 - 12 o'clock quadrant (rubbed by a shirt / coat cuff, perhaps). The case otherwise has no serious marks and certainly nothing that would constitute damage.
I think its had a basic clean since being photo'd for eBay, but it does need a thorough going over again.
Bezel action is smooth and comparable to that on my C6 Kingfishers.
Crystal is unmarked and the dial is as vibrant as expected.
The HRV unscrews and re-screws perfectly well, although there are signs of corrosion to the anodised ring on it.
The crown is a different matter. The screw thread is shot and the crown will only screw in about a quarter turn (photo 2 shows the gap due to the crown not being fully screwed home). Once unscrewed the crown operates more or less OK to wind, change date and hack. However, the movement between the three crown positions is indistinct; instead of having the expected 1, 2, 3, with a definitive click between each position. Apart from that it appears to run satisfactorily, although I've not had time enough to check timekeeping.
It came with an early(ish) CW pale yellow box, in good condition, but no papers.
My decision to make, is whether to;-
1. just give it a better clean, being mindful that the crown is unlikely to be waterproof, change the strap and then use it as a beater OR
2. to send it to CW for a service and repair to the crown, which may (from experience on my C5A) require a new case/bezel.
Finally, my thanks to @GINGER1974 for his initial post, without which I wouldn't have seen this watch For Sale as I don't routinely scour eBay for CW watches.

Re: Slight signs of wear....
Well done Guy, a good pick up, sometimes these non prestine watches are worth a punt - and it’s always nice to give these tired oldies a facelift at CW towers as long as they don’t bankrupt you.
I’m afraid I scour fleabay every morning looking for bargains, so happy to have helped here!

Re: Slight signs of wear....
Well done Guy. I had this in my shopping cart within half an hour of it being listed, with the intention of sending it straight to CW to be sorted out, but after putting my Paypal credentials into the payment page, I made the decision that I’d put the money toward another item I was more interested in, so cancelled out only one click away from committing to it.
Looked at again a couple of times after that too, but resisted each time. Glad to see it went to a fellow forumite in the end!

Re: Slight signs of wear....
@GINGER1974 - thanks Steve.
If I send it to CW for a service and recase I'll finish up about evens on cost vs. value but with the benefits of an effectively new watch.
@gaf1958 - Thanks Gary.
Seems like I've done well. That you were going to have it sent straight to CW makes me more inclined to do the same.
I'll take a closer look at it over the next day or two and then decide.

Re: Slight signs of wear....
Hi Guy, great find, at a great price. As you say, getting it fettled will bring it back to where it should be with regards to value and condition. Here’s a pic of what you’ll end up with, to whet your appetite.
Mine cost £450 off S.C. (Yep, I paid too much!) and a further £117 to repair and service it, when the ratchet wheel died within a couple of months of purcbase. Hey ho, but it’s soooo worth it!

Re: Slight signs of wear....
Guy you're a dark horse, you bought it!
It does look better than the eBay pics but if it were me, i would definitely send it off for a service and whatever else CW recommended. It is a great CW that I also used to own and probably regret selling a bit thinking about it now.
Lovely addition to your collection.
