CW Warranty transfer?

Post by Tally »

For the life of me I've looked and still cannot see for looking in the CW thread or with search

over the last few months I have purchased a couple of CW's previously owned and wondering how do I go about getting the Warranty transferred over to myself?

Is it a case of just dropping CW CS an email with the serial numbers etc?

Cheers

As far as I'm aware, you don't get it transferred. I seem to recall they don't keep a record of which serial number went to which buyer so all you need is the COA / warranty book at the time you send it in.

Chris is spot on, all you need is the completed warranty page of the manual. If you have that for your watch and it's < 60 months old you are sorted. No need for registering or transferring the warranty.

Hello, for 3 times my CW watches coming back to CW for repair under warranty. Never CW assistance ask me warranty card, but only original order purchase number and serial numbe/r, as in the return instruction pdf module.
Further, Wera some time ago, told me that, in case of second hand CW watch purchase, better is to communicate serial number and old/new owner to registrate them on their database. So, I think that CW own an archive with all CWs sold, single serial numbers and (first) original purchasers.

I’ve recently bought a 2nd hand CW from ebay without papers or a record of purchase. When I contacted CW about a potential issue and gave them the serial no they said they couldn’t identify the age of the watch from this and so consider it out of warranty. You need to have some form of validated evidence, either the warranty card or original purchase info it seems. I think this is fair enough, I picked up a mint C65 for £270 so I’m totally happy. It does make me think that I’ll only buy 2nd hand CW with papers in the future though

Try asking the seller for his name and date of purchase if he was the original owner.
