C7 Apex Limited Edition

Post by what-time-is-it » Fri Aug 10, 2018 11:51 am

I received some marketing about this watch this morning, so time for a thread dedicated to this new model.

Public release 30th August.

The link on the mailing doesn't appear to be active yet...

During the "chat with Chris" he announced that about 20 (maybe 25) had been reserved at that point. I have one on reserve too and am looking forward to the launch. I wonder if the August 30th date is the public launch and if watches will be available to ship on that date?

Apologies as I’m sure this has probably been discussed elsewhere but do we know what the price will be?

If I recall correctly, it was in the area of 4,000 Swiss Francs but I think Chris may have mentioned GBP 2,995 in the recent chat.
I'll never buy another watch. Not until the next one.

FloridaPhil's recollection of the price is correct. The GBP 2,995 includes VAT. I don't know if the price will adjust before launch based upon currency fluctuations.

Does anyone else think the face has the look of a brake caliper and a disk brake? And am I being Captain Obvious for even asking that? I think it looks great!

Ah, so that's what the letter is.

Just got home and it has arrived in the post (yet to open).

We didn’t get to see the actual watch when we visited CWT, but we were shown large size photos of the details. Visually this is one of the boldest things CW have done since the C70s. Although it’s not for me I do like the nod to what some of the more esoteric high end brands are doing, though it’s more attractive than most and hopefully will not have the legibility issues we have speculated might exist with some of them. It will be interesting to see where they go with this type of idea...they didn’t tell us that, either! :D

If the notification is by snail mail then I should expect to receive it in the US just after the launch date. I'm glad I contacted Scott Calloway directly.

That I like a lot. One of CW’s most striking designs in my view - it’s coming close to justifying £3k for a watch to me. (And I never thought I would say that about any watch)

Nothing we don't know already, but the link to the C7 Apex page does now work!

A very striking and different watch than what I'm used to CW. It seems it will be on August 29th. There is little left for that.

What amuses me is that I tried to get on a reservation list when the last issue of Loupe came out a couple of months ago. I phoned CW but was told that there wasn't a reservation list. At some point a list was created.... hmmm. Apart from TMB special editions that I'm not that interested in, it's unlikely that CW will have anything that needs a reservation list that I want to buy. However, announcing that there's a reservation list when it's more than half full was a bit careless. If it hadn't been for the chat with Chris i wouldn't have known potentially until August 10th and this thread. The only reason I brought up the C7 Apex was the "leak" due to CPHG.

GBP 2,995 including VAT? If it is confirmed, it's a good surprise compared to 4000 CHF.
Scott Callaway told me about GBP 3000 when I have reserved my number on 28 june, with no precision about VAT...
Scott is very reactive: 2mn between my mail about the number list I wanted and his answer with the reserved number!!!

I reserved a number, but didn't have it confirmed back. I have had subsequent emails with updates on dates, but no postal marketing. Hit and miss maybe?

I prefer the case back to the watch face, I must admit.
