I really like the D-Type, I used to drive a Mini Cooper in the same colour blue with white "go faster" pin stripes. The mini has since moved on but this watch is a keeper

Yep - love the D-Type ... mines on a Bracelet ... but yet to see anyone admitting to owning a C70 US !

I'd agree but then I'm quite partial to blue dials

From what I’ve heard, one of these is for sale right now.

And you would be right - it's that exact watch! Moving my collection to pay for recent purchases. See CWE Facebook sales page.

This & the same model in BRG are the first CWs I was interested in buying (another of yours, the Bluebird, is the first CW model I ever noticed). I decided against them in the end because I prefer automatics, but they are beautiful watches, with the big numerals, they really annouce themselves.

I've been told that the DBR1 C70 is the most sought-after - and as almost always there's a couple on EBaY at present ....

Now, the DBR1 came in 3 flavours over time - so I think there were over 700 produced ... ? Not sure tho ...

The C70 US was one of the original batch of 3000 MotorSport GP models and apparently 500 were made ...

so if its now far less available in the Market place, maybe it should be promoted to the 'most desireable' ?

The yellow Ascari I think is the nicest.

Very nice indeed - thats the 2nd - COSC - version ..... I have both as I originally bought one of the first 500 with a view to getting it re-cased, but they had no stock left .... and than a COSC surfaced last October !

I'd probably plump for the only C70 I've ever owned, the VW4 Vanwall.

The Bluebird is a stand out one - it never fails to get noticed and admired, but the most desirable will always be my first one - it's the Vanwall for me.

Welcome. The Bluebird is lovely though not actually a C70.

The half minute which we daily devote to the winding-up of our watches is an exertion of labour almost insensible; yet, by the aid of a few wheels, its effect is spread over the whole twenty-four hours.

Hi Laird,
I notice from your sig you have every C70 except US and DBR1 COSC.

That's got the anorak in me all excited!

By my calculations you should have 20 C70s in your collection?

Have I missed any from this list?
  • IT
  • FR
  • GB
  • DE
  • BE
  • US
  • MC
  • DBR1
  • DBR1 COSC
  • GBR COSC
  • D-Type
  • BRG
  • BRG COSC
  • VW4 COSC
  • Italian GP COSC
  • British GP COSC
  • French GP COSC
  • Belgian GP COSC
  • DBR1 AM100
  • F1 Racing magazine
  • HRDC
  • 3527 GT COSC
Edited to add D-Type

Ah - you have me Sir - I wasnt differentiating twixt the original GP watches and the re-issues as COSC et al ....

I dont count the Monte Carlo really as its style is quite different - nor of course the two Ad Astra C70s ...

I did try & buy the F1 Magazine watch recently on EBay ... and I cant locate a DBR1 AM 100 ...

I do have the 3527 Ferrari & a low # HRDC ... but only the C70 BE from the original run ...

So overall I have just 13 ... heres the best of them ....
