Red Jag back from its service
Just back from holiday today and my 2012 FLE Trident "Red Jag" has come back from servicing at CW.
My first impression is very good, the watch was sent off in mid March with a few issues - timekeeping slightly out of spec, the bezel was stuck from the day I got it (albeit in the correct 12 position) and I'd never wanted to apply any force to it, the winding lately was quite graunchy. I sent it away well wrapped to CW, although didn't bother to send in the original box.
Well today it came back, in a full CW inner and outer box, new cleaning cloth, a card showing it had been pressure tested, a full servicing card detailing work done, the timekeeping checked after regulation etc...all for £99. The bezel just had some dirt under it apparently so is now working well again, the crown and winding mechanism feels tight and spot on now so overall I'm very impressed. It did take about 10 weeks to get the work done but in the end that's acceptable when it's done properly.
Feels good to have it back in the collection

Can’t beat that price Patrick!
Just had mine back too. I sent mine in the original cream box and brown outer. It returned in the cream box but without its outer. Just wrapped in bubble wrap and then taped into a bag. No new cloth but then, I’ve got loads anyway!

Have they stopped sending out the service pods? I’ve two from having watches serviced and very handy travel cases they are.
Trying not to buy any more watches...

Good news Patrick and perfectly timed with your return from holiday.
Interesting to see the two page fold over card 'Service check sheet', not seen or heard of that before. Helps the customer understand the work done.
My C5A is with CWL for a service at the moment too, looking forward to getting it back.

Nice one Patrick
Very good to see CW adding those extra little touches like the detailed account of what was done etc.
A great price too !
I will send off my Tri-Tech Elite IPB for a service, it's first, some time this year.
It's April 2010 so well due one, running well with no issues as such.
It will be nice to have it freshly serviced though.

Yes. You just get a returns bag. (Extra thick bin bag) but smaller!Clach77 wrote:Have they stopped sending out the service pods? I’ve two from having watches serviced and very handy travel cases they are.

Re: Red Jag back from its service
As Steve says I think that is the case Alex. It was a bit like getting a new watch, the fact it came in a full inner and outer box etc. Having said that I already had at least one extra CW box so maybe a basic travel case would have been handierClach77 wrote:Have they stopped sending out the service pods? Thanks Guy, yes the service sheet is quite a good idea, it reminded me of getting my car back from BMW where they give you a similar card (probably to justify the small fortune they are about to relieve you of )Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Good news Patrick and perfectly timed with your return from holiday.

Cheers Ferg, you're right...those little touches do make a difference to the whole customer experienceMiniMpi wrote:Nice one Patrick

Re: Red Jag back from its service
Is 10 weeks a normal service timeframe? I need to get 1 of mine serviced and just wondering if I should anticipate a 2-3 month return time. Tks.

Re: Red Jag back from its service
My C600 (see above post) took 8 weeks from initial contact and cost £99 for service, £10 for new Ratchet Wheel and £7.95 for postage. It’s now been running for 21 days and is +3.7 secs/day. The 8 weeks wait pales into insignificance now.

Re: Red Jag back from its service
£99 for acservice seems extremely good value. What’s the time between services?

Re: Red Jag back from its service
From memory they seem to recommend 3-5 years, may depend on the model. I think with a Trident 5 years is probably regular enough to be getting it serviced. Others might have a different view or can give you a more detailed answer.Steve D wrote:£99 for acservice seems extremely good value. What’s the time between services?

Re: Red Jag back from its service
Patrick is about right.
CW's recommendation is 5 years, which coincides with the end of the 60/60 warranty.
I'd get it done at 4 3/4 years. That way, any issue found on the service, could be covered by the warranty.
