C60 Vintage

Post by SlowLoris »

Apologies if this has been covered already but have CW discontinued their C60 Trident Vintage range? I thought they (particularly the steel versions) were best sellers but there seem to be none on the website.

It was discussed a short while ago but I can't remember or find the relevant thread.

I've just done a Google search on "Christopher Ward C60 Vintage" - the CW site page that it brings up has "Out of Stock" and an IT error message showing.

Whether that means it really is just "Out of Stock" or has been deleted from the range/never to return I don't know.

There ARE some still in the sale - look in the 30% off section (not the 30% off chronometers section), i.e. here:

CW is due to release a new handwound vintage diver so I can only assume the vintage C60's were axed to make room for that.

Unconfirmed but it would be reasonable to think they will use the case from the new vintage diver in some fashion to make a version without bezel that will replace the C65's that were also discontinued.

Oh my I didn't realise it would be handwound! What do you think the chances are that they use something like a perseux rather than a 2804?

Either way that's going to be really bad news for the wallet.

Based on the pricing for the c65 classic and vintage I'd guess £50 more than the current time and date automatic trident.

Though the potential manual wind might stir that up a bit.

Hopefully that will mean there will be a few vintage Tridents in the next sale or nearly new offers.

There are some available in the current 'clearance' on CWL's website at 30% discount.

I imagine that CWL are trying to clear stock before the release of a new model.

I may look stupid by asking but why would a manual watch be more expensive than an auto? You reckon the new vintage would be inhouse?

It would have both a timing bezel and boxed sapphire crystal which will up the price.

There isn't a massive difference in price between an elabore grade 2824, a manual wind elabore 2804 and a perseux 7001 anyway. The lower end Swiss movements tend to be priced the same since the work that goes into an auto and a manual eta aren't particularly demanding.

I do hope it's not an in house sh21. I don't think it would suit the vintage model and it would end up being noticeably thicker, plus it would be way over £1000 At that point.
