Info on the new Malvern Aviator

Post by Hans »

Here's some news about the Malvern Aviator!

"...We are homing in on B5 but nothing has been decided yet….The movement will of course be the Eta 2842-2 as that is how the case/dial have been engineered.

The case will be a dull brushed finish

The movement will have a customised rotor/ cote de geneve /pearl polish and rhodium finished with blue screw

The crown will be slightly enlarged and reshaped.

Strap is to be black calf or buffalo (TBC and) and metal bracelet version..."

Well, it's certainly nice that it's an automatic watch.
I like the one with the REALLY BIG nummerals.
It's a pity though, that the watch looks quite a lot like the Malvern.

What qualifies a watch as an aviator? Simply a style or function? The chrono looks kinda cool.

I am digging the fact that it will be an automatic watch again, with a beautifull movement!
I like the simple dial models, not the overdone ones. Would love to see a prototype just like the Peregrine.

Great going Chris.

Looking great. I like the subtle use of red and the hands look very elegant. I think I prefer the smaller numerals and lighter lume colour but it would be good to see larger pics of them all. Is the dial layered like the Malvern? I imagine so and expect it would work very well. Good stuff!

If I were to vote on a preference it would be for C (the one on the left). The others are too small (at least fore my eyes) to make an assessment.

Well, in that case, I like it a whole lot. I prefer the most left of B.
I hope the movement is a bit different from the normal Malvern, think about a different finish or a differently decorated rotor.

Question to Hans and Chris. In Group C (the middle and right watch), what is the purpose of the grey marker half way between the numbers?

This is a good idea! Less scratch-prone then the polished one.

Very interesting! Looks like it's going to be a beauty. Anymore details on that?
The crown will be slightly enlarged...
In my opinion, this may be a pretty good idea too.

As for the pictures, the Left-C is the one I like most.
