C8 Flyer - New release

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

With all the chatter about the new C1 & C7 models we've nearly overlooked the new C8 Flyer

"Inheriting the proud British design cues of our redesigned aviation range, the C8 Flyer Automatic retains the aesthetic foundations that earned the Power Reserve Chronometer and UTC Worldtimer such acclaim, allowing its Smiths Mk II clock influences to take centre stage."

Available in both Automatic and Quartz movements in black and steel case finishes . .

. . .but in 44mm only.

Mutch better than old one. But to big for me. 40mm would be great.

A definite improvement on the previous C8. Personally, I much prefer the brushed steel case to the PVD one, but either way it's a nice distinctive aviator design. Although 44mm is quite big, it's about right for a flieger-style watch, so I don't have any complaints about that.

I'm liking this one. Still not as good as my (newly re-cased) Blackhawk but a fine looking watch.
Trying not to buy any more watches...

Ok I guess.
Good points, family design cues such as the applied numbers ato 12 and 6
Sandwich dial gives it a bit of depth.
The word automatic balances the dial a bit.
Bad points, marenting b**!*cks (smiths inspired dial) I could just about take it with the two alternating colours of the old spitfire special edition. As far as I can tell this has numbers and lines and is legible that's it. Many watches have this in common without the stretch to historical significance.
Big space in the bottom of the quartz dial.

A definite improvement on the old design, I like the mixture of applied and recessed indices, the black version is the one I'd go for - looks cool

I never much cared for the old C8 flyer but I like this a lot. The only issue as others have stated could be the bezel-less 44mm which may be a step too far for my thin wrist :problem:
