c65 vintage black

Post by stefs » Thu Apr 27, 2017 10:47 am

What do you think of the new version. It seems to lose that bit of contrast between polished and brushed that the steel one has to me.
Cheers now

it's lost a lot imo. in fact, it's gone from being a watch i think about owming, to one i don't actually like.
i'll stick with the contrasting textures and tones of brushed steel, dark dial and vintage strap

Yes, the original steel is still my preferred version but I love that new green leather strap they're offering!

The original one is a lot nicer, but I do like the new green strap. On the other hand I own a C11 Vintage in PVD, and I feel the black version is leagues better than the plain steel version. I guess it depends on the watch itself.

Personally, I'm not a fan of PVD and I'm not sure how any watch finished in black can wear the 'vintage' moniker other than it has fake depleted lume patina. To me, vintage is all about a polished steel finish so I much prefer the steel vintage. But, what's in a name?

I prefer the steel version - on a steel bracelet. The PVD doesn't quite work - certainly not as well as it does on my C60 PVD Vintage.

Clearly I'm the odd one out. I'm not a fan of the steel version, but I like the black DLC. However, it appears to be only available in 38mm, with no 43mm option.

^^^ I also much prefer the DLC version. Very nice, and definitely worth considering.

I'm with you, a 38mm case size on my 7.75" wrist looks like a women's watch. :(

Agreed. Brushed is a nice looking watch along conventional lines, but this captures my eye.

Make one thing clear; it's not PVD but DLC.

Size is what it is, but it would look girly on my wrist.

Not sure why it would look girly? The dial on a C65 vintage is larger than that on a 5513...... :)

I think the original steel was an homage to the era of Michael Caine and Jane Fonda.
Whereas the black version is more of an homage to a period defined by its earthy colours and minimalist charms.
