Got really excited when I saw the layout of the new C3. Then I realised it was quartz.

Lovely looking watch - if it was an automatic I would buy one.

The C5 looks good as well. I have come to terms with the new logo and don't really notice it anymore.

Frankly you could put any fashion brand name on these......... actually they just have.
I think it's been well established by now that you have fell out of love with CW and I doubt there is anything they could do to change that. I also do not particularly like the logo, especially at 9 o'clock - but in looking beyond that I see two very, very nice watches in the C3 and C5 that I will almost certainly buy at some point. They offer the quality and specification that most 'fashion brands' could only dream of and at a price point that, for me, offers very good value.

I very much like a lot of the new designs the C8 UTC & the C8PR are both superb designs IMO. The C1 GMPR shows what is possible with the same basic elements but a greater attention to detail in the finishing touches that can make or break a design (not talking logo which is common to all)

The car dial style has been blown away on the C3 which now looks like a cut price version of the old C9 chronograph but with less elegance, the pared down elegance and simplicity of the C5's with their slim hands has also gone.

There are certainly things they could do to re-engage me with the brand but I wouldn't expect them to do that, why would they? They are aiming at a different audience to me who will probably like these - style wise they are certainly going to attract the slightly upwardly mobile Michael Kors fans.

I think that's probably their target audience. It's a nice looking watch that would fit in with a Michael Kors / Daniel Wellington design, but hopefully better made.

I like it, but not a patch on the original C3s

Greetings,

Agreed, nice looking watch. For new younger CW buyers a perfect entry model.

Certainly a better option than those brands mentioned above.

New Malvern chrono? Interesting, different, not as heritage as the original, but refreshing and nicely detailed.

Logo? Awful. Gruesome. Stuck on. Out of character. Totally unsuited to any design that would purport to be a classic.

Really nice addition to the range, especially the blue dial version. The only thing that is not to my taste is the mesh bracelet, but the straps work really well. I think it has a great overall design, even the logo; I think the old logo would look wrong on this design.

Very much agreed.

However, I feel it will be true to say there is DNA from the new C1 Grand Malvern in spades.

Very likeable watch; really like the sloping cutout to emphasis the date window.

However, I don't need a dress watch right now so not for me (nor the C5 Auto).

I like the C3, especially in steel blue, but not the C5 so much.

All the additional detailing seems to have detracted from the classy simplicity of the C5.

The MK3 C3 has lost that character that the first two versions had but it is still a good looking watch, especially in Blue.

Edit : The Black dial is lovely actually.

For anyone with MkI / MkII DNA withdrawal symptoms, the MkII is still available in 'Certified Chronometer' (ETA 251.233 COSC quartz) version

^^^ Complete with munched numbers.
I probably would have bought one if it didn't have those munchings, loving HAQ as I do.
