Love the VW I have with one exception... it is a PITA to screw the crown out as it's smooth. However the individual look is so different I can live with the odd adjustment being slippy :-)

Thanks Ferg

Is that what it is? I don't really know the difference

According to Kip's excellent spreadsheet it's listed as a GB1926 Chronometer, not a DBR1-COSC :?

I'll take your word for it!

So what is/are the difference(s) between the the green ones? There seems to be two GB, two DBR1 and a VW4

The main difference between the original DBR1 and the latest C70 is a much better less prone to damage bezel.
Different coloured hands and the case back is different too.
Also the straps are not fully fitted to the case.

Green C70s off top of my head:
Original GB (500)
Original DBR1 (500)
GB COSC (200)
DBR1 COSC (300)
BRG (500)
VW4 (1957)
DBR1/2 (100)
Current GB COSC (500)

Will take a bit longer to detail the differences!

Congrats on the New one by the way

Rbates15 wrote:I recently purchased a C70 Monte Carlo, which was the only one from that series that appealed to me. It took me a good while to find one, since they aren't put up very often... And when they are, the costs are pretty high. IMO, the current models are just very busy, which turned me off.

That is exactly why I could never buy one, the dial's are just too busy.
The concept of a racing/motorsport watch is great but does it have to have round black blobs, like the old racing numbers circles that were stuck to the sides of the old cars, that basically prevent using it as a watch to tell the time.

My favourite set of motorsport associated watches are the 5 x TAG Heuer 2000 Series chronographs for Monaco (CK1116), Monza (CK1119), Silverstone (CK1117) , USA (CK111A) and Hockenheim (CK1118) - these just have different coloured dials, with 3 sub-dials and a map of the course on the back plate - neat watches (although fairly small) that are collectable but wearable and can take a beating.

If anybody has 1 for sale I'm interested.

Not to derail the thread, but did anyone else notice a mention of revamping the motorsport series later this year, in the most recent copy of Loupe? It may have said September, I'm going from memory here though...

Reading it again now (issue 3, page 9) I must have invented the September reference, and I wonder now whether he's just talking about the Malvern series itself, not necessarily a revamped C7 / C70 Grand Prix lineup. I'd love to see that, though...!

I don't think you invented it as I've read that somewhere and would assume that it's been in the Loupe. I'd like to see a re-vamp also as stated in my previous post I think the current release are too busy.

Let's hope for a good re-vamp and some great dial colours.

It's the C70 COSC that first drew me back to this forum. I wanted to find out more about the model.

I'm quite drawn to the France and Italian versions, for the vivid blue and red colours.

I'm also keen on the HAQ movement as I had also been looking at the Certina DS-2 divers chronos.

If anyone has a photo of the latest blue or red to help tempt me?
