I initially asked CW if they knew what movement was in the C60 I bought. They declined to give me an answer.
I took advantage of the 60/60 return policy and bought a Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military instead.
I much prefer the Steinhart anyway. :D

It would have probably been best if someone other than MJ had started this poll, if only to stop it becoming personal.

Personally, I think it's ludicrous that CW can't say which movement is in which watch. Of course they can, should they wish. There might be reasons why they don't want to, as alluded to in the earlier thread, but even though I have a trident, I'm firmly in the yes camp. If cheaper brands can do this, then so can CW and so they should, in my opinion.

It also seems to me silly beyond words to suggest putting JJ's opinion in with the packaging! On saying that, an employee of CW is going to say what he said about the two movements, isn't he? :D

There is much discussion on the internet about this subject and CW is invariably linked with it and the only thing I picked up is that the sellita may have a longer power reserve? Whether that is true or not, I have no idea. But I would like to know what movement is in my watch and indeed, the Trident is the only one I have that I don't know about.

I could not really vote for either of these options because my reply would be -

" I couldn't care less which movement is in my watch but for CW not to know in my view is absurd"!

Perhaps I like to be different!

Voted YES.

I think its something CW has got to do at some point ( Should have already done ) so now is a good a time as any to start.

Its not going to be hard to link the movement being fitted into a case and its serial number. but i also understand that each little additional thing to do will incur a cost.

I wish that CW only used Sellita movements, so that there wouldn't be any confusion about which movement the watch uses and I don't think that anyone can say that one is better than the other. I'd be happy with both of them and really don't care about it, but I can understand that some people want to know it. The problem, of course, is that some people would insist on a certain movement (I cannot think of a justification myself for this)...

I voted no for two reasons:

Firstly, I don't think that I would buy a CW watch with that particular movement option again. Nothing that has the movement currently appeals to me.

Secondly, I have previously owned one of each and they were both fine.

How do you rate a movement? I suppose the ultimate test must be its ability to do the job. The two that I had did the job perfectly well, though neither was within COSC specifications. The Sellita was a very good looking movement through an exhibition back, which may be another factor.

I have voted no, in that I don't care what is in it,

But.......

CW should absolutely know! It is a little strange that they do not link serials and movements.

Long time. Since I did Latin ..
Was as close as I could get to

" life is short, don't sweat the small stuff, lest you forget to live"

Edit: Just put it into google translate ... No idea where the small house came from ... I think i need to start conjugating ..and follow that up with 500 lines..

Is the eta Vs selitta really the argument here. Yes both are as good as each other in terms of function/PR/longevity/durability. The poll is would you like to know which was fitted in your watch and should CW keep a record of this...

And yes i would want to know. It makes a difference when buying to know which movement is inside & would also make a difference when selling.

The NO option to this poll should have been - NO i dont care which movement is fitted to my watch, but i do think CW should have records to link movement to case serial number.

Imo.

People have missed the point here. This is not a ETA v sellita which is better thread. This is about the right to know what one is buying. Personally, how many jewels a movement has or how many bpm it produces has zero bearing on my life. I simply wish to know what I am buying.

Apply this rule to most other things we buy, the 'ingredients' are an essential, even legal, requirement

Backfired? It's opened up debate and of the 46 votes casted so far 20 of them have voted yes.
