For the love of cars - watch

Post by akirk »

For the love of cars on Channel 4 tonight - on the Series 1 landrover...

looked as though the presenter was wearing a C7MK1 (or something remarkably similar...)
three circular dials with the outer broad silver ring
black bezel etc.

only frame I could freeze on my box puts all the 'pause' message over the watch - but saw it several times and it looked right - but of course could be something else!

Not sure about the watch, but great episode with what appeared to be a top notch restoration.

This is a good series - I enjoyed the first episode on the Escort Mexico, and Philip Glenister's just the right 'period' presenter. I missed his watch, but I'm recording the coming episodes so I'll have a closer look. From what you say, and knowing what presenters usually wear, I wonder if this is actually a Tag Heuer (on which several CWs are modelled).

Even my wife found the first episode worth watching, and she's normally bored to death about cars - I think it was the way the history and times of the car were shown, and the entertaining sections about modern aficionados.
Regards,
Mark

Love the cars, but I find Phillip Glenister too sarcastic as a presenter, I never know if he is being serious or not. It might help if his expression changed occasionally!

I thought the watch was a TAG too.

mmm - could have been a tag - just looked more like a C7 - but am first to admit that it was a glancing view...
presenter doesn't bother me - amazing how on the Series 2 forum people are getting all grumpmy about him / the programme - yet it is a fab intro for those not familiar with a particular marque... I have owned a series 1 and series 2 (currently have a 2a) and the programme was inspiring - a reminder of why they are fun cars!

Watched the Mexico programme, wasn't entirely convinced by the barn find body and, with a youth misspent in rallying thought the tahn-based "no spotlights" brigade 100% wrong.

About time you got a Series 3 then Alasdair :D

Just caught up on the programme - most enjoyable. Glad they got to show some of the Dunsfold collection - a great selection of interesting variants.

Not a coiler! That would be like using your phone to tell the time

I must admit I had a 90 for a while - they don't half sway about - worse than parabolics - wouldn't recommend them at all :silent:

I enjoyed it. A neighbour of mine used to have one. Sounded fantastic (V8), but rusted.
