I picked this strap up on a trip to Melbourne last week and then found it discounted online for about $US23(!). Actually I like it a lot. What do you think? I'm still half thinkng about genuine alligator (Hadley Roma 2005 perhaps?).

Sexy! I really like the stitching. Looks like a good quality strap. Seems to be padded just right. I feel like my HR might be a little thinner than I like.

I'm really looking for a strap that will cross over from casual, to all but the most formal situations, where you'd probably need a polished strap. I'm just not a fan of glossy straps.

Yep too much gloss looks a little odd these days. This one has a nice high quality leather look. Not quite matte. It's about 4mm thick and feels well finished. I find the more expensive Hirsch straps often look pretty good in a reserved sort of way but the cheaper ones can look a bit dated. Any pics of the HR?

Very nice David. I might do some experimenting myself.

Hans, excellent idea in regards to the quick release spring bars. I see new straps in my future.

This one is really nice! Is it 20mm? I thought that CWM requires 18mm...

I made an error linking to the pictures on the website of the seller. The last picture doesn't belong to the strap. So indeed it is 18mm and the strap doesn't have quick-release springbars.

The strap arrived today, it is indeed the 2005 David, that what is printed on the inside of the strap... I'll post some pics this weekend..

I am new to the whole world of watches - and know nothing! I see from this thread, the names Hirsch and Hadley Roma; are these the straps to buy if i want to replace my original ?
Thanks, Giles.

Those are just two (good) options Giles. As long as you choose an 18mm for your Malvern, the Brand doesn't matter!

OK. Found a good site called http://www.tiktox.com that supplies Hirsch straps (including the ascott pictured above). I'll let you know if i change the strap. (can't decide what i like yet - need to get the watch delivered first !)
Thanks.
Giles.
