^^^ Yep Rolex up 4%.
Plus from what I have seen elsewhere:
Tudor 9.5%-10%.
Sinn 10%.
Omega (not sure if from Jan or Feb) 10%? .

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread
I think that's right, that will represent about a 20% increase in under 2 years. a BB58 will be almost £3,300 on a bracelet
Rolex is a whole separate scenario because of the unmet demand however Tudor, Omega etc could risk pushing their prices out of the reach of a number of past and potential new customers already feeling the squeeze of the cost of living crisis, higher taxes (especially if you live in Scotland where you get the double whammy of increases from both budgets ). I hope the AD's are sharpening their pencils on the discount you can get.

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread
^^^ I certainly think that Omega have misjudged the mood. I have the impression that they think it is a good idea to push prices higher, just because people have difficulty at getting a Rolex at RRP. Thought process being people will pay £xk for say an AT, Seamaster or Speedmaster, just because the likely cost someone may have to pay for a Rolex comparable model is generally a few £k over RRP.

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread
^^^ I have just had a quick look on the website:
Standard hesalite Moonwatch on a bracelet - £6,000
Sapphire sandwich on a bracelet - £6,800
With a price increase to come…..
After the increase it may be the case that the RRP has doubled in the almost seven and a half years since I bought mine, on the first day after I packed in work. Well my pension has doubled in that same period.

Either that last sentence was sarcasm, tongue in cheek.....or you have a fantastic pension, in which case happy days!

Patrick I can confirm that my pension has indeed…..Thegreyman wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 6:25 pmEither that last sentence was sarcasm, tongue in cheek.....or you have a fantastic pension, in which case happy days!
Not doubled since I retired.
Whilst mine is pension and not earnings, I imagine that a similar disconnect between the level at which watch prices have increased and earnings have (not) increased probably explains why I observe more and more people who a few years ago, we’re prepared to pay the going rate for Rolex/Omega output, as everyday watches, to now think “thanks but no thanks”.
I am just glad that I bought the majority of my better watches before, or slightly after I packed in work.

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread
Is this a discussion thread or a “Bargain Hunters Thread”?

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread
There are decent bargains that crop up from time to time. If there's a January CW sale there will be bargains in that sale.
The Tribus 70% off sellout offered bargains last year.
The Mappin and Webb field watches that were pointed out in this very thread were fantastic bargains, I think at the end of 2021. It might have been @TheBeatles who first spotted them.
There are also comparative bargains in non swiss made watches.
Some regard a list price Rolex as a bargain, and that's curious.
I just bought some cheap stuff in the marks and Spencer sale, but not watches. A couple of nice packs of braces, and some other stuff at about 70% off including Percy Pig socks.

@tikkathree. Ha ha.
Yes, they were 3 lions. The branding is quite subtle and hardly noticeable under a jacket anyway. It's much better than braces that keep pinging off the trousers. There ought to be a way to squeeze the grippers back together when they begin to lose their strength. I can't see how to do that though, unfortunately. I even saw new grippers for sale on eBay, but I also can't see how to easily detach and replace the old ones. I end up just buying new braces every so often.

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread
Suggestion: a pencil, or similar, across the back of the jaws then squeeze the tips of the jaws together a bit? That's worked for me in the past. You might yet tempt me into a couple of pairs then I can bin the old black braces with the clapped-out elastic.JAFO wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 2:14 pm @tikkathree. Ha ha.
