Here's a quick teaser of the new strap flanked by the white and rather shabby blue one it was bought to replace. The new one is a softer almost suede-like texture which I think will suit the watch really well.

Pictures of the watch itself will be done with a proper camera rather than my phone!

How about a butterfly deployment to save strap wear?

That's a thought. This one looks just the ticket and is over half the price of the Omega buckle I've had my eye on: http://www.watch-band-center.com/watchs ... -HeBF.html

Now, if only it wasn't going to cost me the thick end of £200 to get the bloody thing working...

Got a fresh quote today from another local watchmaker to do the necessary repairs for £120, so I've gone ahead and authorised the work! I've only been without this watch for a few weeks and I'm actually quite excited about getting it back in full working order and getting the replacement strap on it. I'll need to wait about three weeks, during which I might sort out that deployment to improve the longevity of the strap.

Nice work, would love to see the watch when all finished, I'm going up London tomorrow to look at one of these, a manual wind similar to this:

Might buy it as i really want one but its overpriced.

No problem, I'll sort some pics out as soon as I have it back. It's slightly different from the one pictured. No date, and numbered indices - I've never seen another like it but I'm led to believe there were lots of different faces available, even if the classic bullseye is the one you see the most.

Forgot to mention that the indices are also riveted, which the pictured one also doesn't have.

Vintage Grail time!

Was only up London for a training course but took the off chance to visit Austin kaye, took my omega seamaster 565 along to see how much i would get for it. Knowing that London dealers are quite stingey paying for new aquisitions i was quite surpised to hear the offer of £300 for the Seamaster (they must have liked my clean up job). As that was double what i paid for it originally i went with it and part exchanged it for the Omega dynamic (priced at £650- buggered if im going to pay that much) you see here now.

Its the colour version i prefer with the movement i prefer - a nice handwind (no odd noises from the roter like the 565) - its a 601 calibre. Freshly serviced with a two year warranty - Sweeeeeeeeet!

Mint (nicely rebrushed) case, mint dial, original crown, signed crystal, new strap - hands not too shabby

I'm throwing a huff - that's just not on! It's going to be another fortnight at least before I get mine back!

You've got to love that blue second hand though...

Nice strap - my new one is a little more on the suede side but I think it will still look good. I've also been eying one of these up:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130672583004? ... 478wt_1397 ("aftermarket") or one of these:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180819193320? ... 030wt_1164 (NOS). For a watch I already own the cost could start mounting up!

Well done!

That is the identical model I have been looking for. The blue sweep hand really makes this dial jump.
