Leather strap suppliers in uk
I am in the market for a good quality strap & wondered if there were any others that I may not be aware of?
I'm favouring a toshi so far but have seen some nice ones at timepiecerepublic but would prefer a uk supplier so if anyone has any little hidden gems they'd like to share??
thanks

Toshi straps are unique, and also very good quality, but they are not for everybody and don't suit every watch.
For more 'run of the mill' type straps, I use Watch Obsession. It's mostly Hirsch stuff, but nothing wrong with that. Service is always top notch too, and quick delivery.

I've bought from Weston Watch Straps http://www.westonwatchstraps.co.uk who have a reasonable selection of quality straps, plus a 15% discount offer for forum members at present - see thread at the head of this section.
For something more individual, I was recommended to try Steveo Straps http://www.steveostraps.com and am just having one of his Para Straps made; hope to receive it next week.

Here's a 'post production' photo of my strap, sent to me by Steveo before I paid him;-Andyshall wrote:Thanks for the steveostraps link. They look really good, and the para in particular. It would be great to see some pics. and hear some thoughts when it arrives.
I'll post some more during next week once I've got the strap.

I can recommend Steve-o-straps - he made me a very nice buff and white for my O&W tonneau a couple of years ago - still going strong.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Here's a 'post production' photo of my strap, sent to me by Steveo before I paid him;-Andyshall wrote:Thanks for the steveostraps link. Here we go then; not so much of 'in the wild' - will my office do?Robin CB wrote:It will be great to see some more pics of the para in the wild
I'm not sure that it truly works on my C60, partly as it is a whisker too tight for me on one notch, but otherwise too loose; it may settle down. Ohterwise I feel the overall style may be more suited to an Aviator / Military watch than a Dive.
I have my C8 cream face standing by which, with a greater lug2lug length, will likely solve the fit issue, and with the general style / pre-V buckle may be more suited too.

Great shots Bahnstormer!
One other alternative (apart from a NATO) is a nylon / webbing strap from Gasgasbones - http://www.gasgasbones.com/
It's as close as I get to the wild these days tooBahnstormer_vRS wrote:Here we go then; not so much of 'in the wild' - will my office do?Robin CB wrote:It will be great to see some more pics of the para in the wild
Sort of know what you you mean about diver and leather, but it still looks very tasty. It looks more 'toolish' than just leather (in a good way). I am not sure it will stretch much though, but it might settle in just through use.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:I'm not sure that it truly works on my C60, partly as it is a whisher too tight for me on one notch, but otherwise too loose; it may settle down. It would be nice to see that option too. Like you say - may be a better all round fit.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:I have my C8 cream face standing by which, with a greater lug2lug length, will likely solve the fit issue, and with the general style / pre-V buckle may be more suited too.

I think it looks really good on the C60 and definitely gives the watch a more 'rugged' look.
I am sure it would look good on the C8 too though. Thanks for showing us the pics.

I've looked around Gasgasbones before and his straps don't quite click for me; I'd prefrer a regular NATO or HD NATO / Zulu / RhinoRobin CB wrote: One other alternative (apart from a NATO) is a nylon / webbing strap from Gasgasbones - http://www.gasgasbones.com/

Certainly a more comforatble fit as the strap is a few mm looser, which I prefer. The strap itself is really soft and has taken to wrist shape really well.
As to style - IMHO, whilst the C60 with para looks good I feel the C8 cream is just absolutely made for it; its just that right feel of aviation / airborne / 1940s(?).
I've marked this up as my preferred combination for the C8 but will still use a black / sand NATO or CWL Vintage Tan from time to time. I will though need to go back to the drawing board (or should that be CAD these days?) for the perfect combination for the C60 Khaki.
