Wowsers. Not seen that before. Thanks for posting.magicman wrote:...There is an alternative way to wear them though, without the double strap going across the case back, which may work better.

It does seem that the "down under" method would be a more practical way of wearing a nato type strap.

I just tried the down-under method (having been advised of it yesterday by Footy). It's better but it still ain't right.

I've never seen that Down Under method before...may give it a try anyway as an alternative method.

Obviously the watch makes a difference as well. The mk1 Trident caseback profile works fantastically with a single piece nato ( vintage bond ) and is proper comfortable and may be more suitable than the Omega.
And no extra hardware on a single piece nato.

Re: I guess my wrists are not NATO-shaped
The watch head needs to be further along than usual for a NATO - perhaps about halfway as a starter?

Re: I guess my wrists are not NATO-shaped
I find that it depends on the watch but I always cut off the second piece so that only one thickness runs under the case. (Is this called a Zulu ?)

Zulu strap same basic design as nato but larger hardware/loops and generally thicker material.
I can't get on with the larger hoops on a zulu. I have always thought of the zulu as the American version of the nato.
The nato which is a single strap is raf style.

Re: I guess my wrists are not NATO-shaped
Here is the skinny, the RAF style is a single layer nylon with a nylon keeper. You can cut a Nato to be a RAF style but it will have the hardware instead of the nylon keeper. There is a 3-ring Zulu that has the round rings instead the square nato version and a thicker material. But there is also a 5-ring Zulu that has the double layer of nylon like a regular nato but with the round hardware and thicker nylon.
