C65 Trident Mk2 38mm bracelet on a C65 Trident Vintage watch

Post by jkbarnes »

What are the odds of the C65 trident Mk2 bracelet in 38mm fitting my mk1 C65 Trident Vintage? I’ve been spoiled by the quick release pins on the bracelet for my C65 AMGT LE and would really like to convenience of being able to swap between straps and the bracelet on a whim for my C65 TV.

I’m sure I could email CS with the question, but I thought I try the forum first.

you prob won't get an answer from Christopher Ward, they are really funny about 'mixing and matching' from different models

There should be a bracelet compatibility thread. I have a number of confirmed cross compatible bracelet combos that CW says are not.

A reference thread where anyone can post pics of their bracelets and watches showing the different compatibilities.

I think it’d be useful; these kind of questions pop up all the time.

Maybe I’ll start it? Who knows.

If we do this we have to be careful. There is works and then there is fits. When I look at some of the pictures you posted I can tell that it doesn't quite fit but works good enough if you want to try. I'm only saying this because that type of thread could get quite confusing.

This would be good. I do know that the MK3 quick release 22mm bracelet will NOT work on the Hamilton Khaki Scuba and Khaki Field

You’re exactly right. That’s why pictures are a must. For me, the fit is good enough and the gaps/differences small enough that I don’t notice at all during normal wear. I would not waste the extra $200 or so on another bracelet. But for others it would be unacceptable and the dedicated bracelet is necessary.

I thought I’d update this thread with some pics. Rich (rkovars) was kind enough to send me a bracelet for the Mk 2 Trident Vintage to preview. It definitely fits, but the end links and lugs don’t mesh well. Have a look. The Mk 1 bracelet first, followed by the Mk 2.

I’m trying to decide if I can live with the mismatch for the sake of the quick release. I’m leaning towards no. I’m accustomed to the fit and finish of the proper bracelet and like the look enough that the mismatch wood bug me despite the convenience.

Huge shout out to Rich for sending the bracelet for a test run!

Aye, that would be a no for me. But well done Rich - fantastic to be able to decide in real life without committing to a purchase.

Agreed, very kind of Rich to send you the bracelet so at least you know….that the mk1 bracelet has to stay.

That is a little to far off for me too. I think if the end link were thicker we would have a winner. It was worth a shot!

I could handle a mismatch with the lugs, I think. It's the exposed case that I don't think I can get past.

Definitely worth a shot, and far better than ponying up for a bracelet from CW to then have to return.

Now, if only CW made mix-n-match end links!

That’s a pretty big difference in depth. I personally wouldn’t like it. Good on Rich for the assist though!

Does that have 20mm lugs? I wonder if the C60 trident mk3 bracelet for the 38mm or 40mm model would work? Those would have thicker shoulder links.

I think that is a possibility.

At this point, I've gotten pretty competent at removing and reattaching the bracelet, so I'm not going to sweat it.

And if the stars align as planned, there might be a new GODO watch in my future that will pick up bracelet duties, allowing my C65 Trident Vintage to stay on the camel leather strap with bader clasp that it looks best on! Stay tuned....
