SOTC Jan 2025

Post by gwells »

So, sold more watches last year than I've ever sold before (i'm not the flipper Hoppy is). Still have 1-2 i wouldn't mind moving on (the Magrette, the Zodiac Sea Dragon and maybe the U1 (if i can work out a swap for a U50 somehow)).

Beautiful collection. I'd like the u1, stormtrooper, doxa and sea dragon in my collection.
Is that how the scubapro is purchased? Or is it just a well worn watch? Either way it's very nice too.
Thanks
Pat

@gwells

I have always loved the Sinn 556 with Blue dial but I wish they would stop putting anti-reflective coating on the top of the sapphire crystal (like many other brands do) because eventually it scratches which hurts dial clarity.

Does it have a ghost position on the crown/stem (aka is it a no-date movement)?

thanks! yeah, it's well-worn. early 80s with lots of wabi on the bezel.

yeah, Sinn is an AR style company. i've gotten a tiniest bit of haze in the AR on my U1.

the 556i has the SW200-1 movement in it, so it must have a ghost position since that's a dated movement. it doesn't click to anything, just moves to time set.

If only 1 position on the stem/crown then they removed the "date parts" which is the way they should do it unlike lesser brands who leave the date wheel covered by the dial and the crown/stem still has 2 positions.

There are many of us who only go for watches of a certain type, but you’ve managed to achieve an excellent variety of colours and tool/dress watches.

There’s something in there for every occasion, even one for if you are ever kidnapped by pirates.

thanks, iain. i definitely have one common theme through most of them. i tend to go for clean 3 handers (excepting the blackbeard and moonswatch, altho the blackbeard looks clean and simple when there's no lume shining). and i seem to have an affinity for white dials (which i've been consciously avoiding recently).

The Scubapro is one of my absolute favorites. Followed up by the Planet Ocean. :thumbup:
