Reubicon SOTC January 2023

Post by reubicon »

An interesting few months curating the 16-box to be my favourite CWs from the various logo periods... with eight slots for older logos and eight for newer. One in, one out!

Out went a C65 Khaki and C1000 RAF, but in came a C60 Prototype and a C9 Moonphase. Various other peripheral models remain in my wife's domain, e.g. the CWEC.

Catch and release were the C60 Graphite, C60 Chrono and C60 Shadow. Various reasons but mostly down to a feeling of general let down with CWs QC on marketing and product.

One more is about to arrive and as such another needs to go, but the new arrival might cause another shake-up in the lower ranks, perhaps leaving space for a late 2023 release... ;-)

Several of those in the collection might not be to everyone's taste and my choice of straps can be controversial. I have bracelets for most but tend to keep them shiny in the box.

I've now settled on 40mm for dress and c.42mm for everything else. Shying away from super tall models now also but still like a bit of weight and chunk a la the Apex etc.

So where next? Not sure if I want to add another bronze but I do like the C60 Bronze with green dial. Think it's a COSC LE so fits my 'demographic' and has a prized date window at 6.

I'll worry about that in a few weeks though. For now I have a Hornet on the way, a Cockpit to depart and a bit of flexibility to move some other's around! I feel very privileged...

Now the usual fun of trying to turn these pictures through 90 degrees to make them look normal... Great Scott! Looks like it's working.

Nice collection spanning the years. Is that Mk 43mm white dial trident GMT the green bezel? That’s one watch I sometimes regret selling, it it was more legible in low light I’d probably still have it.

That’s quite a CW collection. Something for all tastes and occasions.

Sure is! Bought it when I joined Lotus and had Steveo make me a custom strap. Only realised later the GMT hand is more mustard than lemon yellow. Looks OK though...

Thanks AVO! It's been a labour of love trying to gather them all together and I'm religious about having a CW strap and bracelet for each, leaving me to experiment with third party NATOs without damaging the originals.

Not sure where the controversial strap comment fits in, as I think your strap selection is outstanding! They’re an excellent compliment to a diverse collection.
