Thanks for your kind words - WUS has a bashing thread (called the Watch Purchase Abstinence Club or WPAC) where I asked for some opinions on the red Omega and it was quite colorful to say the least :-)

Blowfish89 - Oct 2018 - three watches

That is a simple question, but a very difficult answer. My long term intent is to slowly add interesting watches which have the potential to be long-term keepers, however, I have never succeeded well in planning my purchases so I make no qualms about the fact that I am an impulsive (or practical, if you prefer if) buyer. In fact, it’s not always about what I want to buy - many times the process or the hunt is equally interesting. I want to find a good watch that interests me at a good price in good condition from a good seller, and sometimes they will not align - but other times they will. I am not the kind of person (atleast now) who posts a thread asking for suggestions for the next watch (because why listen to random people on the Internet Image). The problem with a long term / rigid plan is two-fold: (I) sometimes, I will just come across a rare watch at a good price which was the case with the red Aqua Terra and maybe it is just FOMO or maybe it’s the adrenaline - I know pretty well that if I don’t buy it now, I will probably not get the chance again, or (ii) with vintage, I may encounter something that I had never seen before and hence could never plan for it - this happened with the 1950s Continental chronograph that I bought locally here a while ago - it is literally the perfect proportioned vintage manual chronograph (at about 38mm and 10-11mm thick) but I could never have planned for it by looking at what other people are buying or following their interests. Also, once I sell a watch and have funds it is rather difficult for me to continue saving on for a watch - this happened when I sold the Oris recently and I was left with one watch and I just ended up purchasing another watch (the MKII) the same day.

So, in essence, the plan is to circle around to a Speedmaster next year and knowing me, I will probably not get the classic - in fact, I posted on this forum many years ago about my dislike for the Speedy Pro. My opinions have changed with time, but not that drastically. I would think that I would like to try on a MKII racing reissue, a FOIS, and a Speedy racing and then decide. But in reality, I just know that am going to be involved in a convoluted string of buys and sells and trades and end up with something nice. A Sinn EZM13 is also in my radar. The one thing that has changed over time is that my frequency of buying and selling has greatly reduced which gives me a lot of time to appreciate the watches when I have them and to ignore certain watches that I know will not last with me in the future.

So, TLDR, I don’t know and I am okay with that.

Interesting way to build your collection.

Jumping on a deal when it is right there, has worked for me in the past. Examples: Recent acquisitions of Tudor BB58 and Oris Aquis!

On the other hand I also like to plan, research and wait for certain watches and grab them when I find an opportunity to score nice ones at good prices from trusted sellers. Example: CW C60 Bronze Trident and an Oris ProPilot.

Both methods work for me but planning, research and patience seems to be the best when it comes to long term keepers.
Cheers, Mike.

I agree, and I understand.

What I should have answered is that I will be looking for "the chronograph" next I think.
Just like I have no interest in buying any dive watches now (I have tried) after my vintage Sub - the chronograph equivalent of something like that.

What a lovely trio
All three are quite lovely watches and I love how there is no cyclops on the Rolex, looks so much nicer.
Perhaps a Moonwatch at some stage would work well.

Blowfish89 - Oct 2018 - three watches

Only been four days but this excess of choice with three watches and the inability to keep three automatic watches running constantly without a winder is getting to me. It’s been a long time since I had to set a watch mid-week.
