I can't blame them for it. For their shareholders, it's probably a good bet.

But the Yucktmaster is a hideous thing to look at. At that price tag, it can't be a tool... my G-Shock outperforms it in most every respect. It cannot even begin to be a design statement... it looks hideous. Gawd, it looks so bloody overstated that I can't tell if I't prefer it over my G-Shock. The Kingfisher, with a much cleaner design, does a far better job at that.
So it must be an icon - a brand name at a ridiculously high price point. At that price point, Omega offers move innovation, and more sophistication, with their coaxial movements.

And in my humble, but very pertinent, opinion, that is exactly what it is. A Maybach that tries to be a Rolls, but fails miserably. Extremely high quality in its most tastess form. A Maybach that wants to be a Rolls Royce, but fails to onderstand what makes a Rolls Royce.

Peter, stop holding back, and tell us what you really think.

All: No one has answered my Q about the shiny dial. I hate it and don't understand why it's not matte like the others. Also, I know some like the plain dial but I think it's a little bland. Thoughts?

I can't say I can be bothered with the shininess of the dial... but it could've been just a bit blander. But then it wouldn't be a diver. I think that, for a diver, it looks relatively clean and uncluttered.

One thing I find beautiful, but not very practical, is the sapphire chrystal. A recessed sapphire is usually better protected from damaging than a sapphire that extends above the case and the bezel... which may not look very pretty, but is fine for a watch that is considered a workhorse, as you're less prone to scratch it.

The new Yacht-master is rubbish in terms of design, I agree. Most watches that Rolex sell (not in terms of models, but in how many sold) are steel with no diamonds no visible yellow gold and no platinum.

I think the dial needs a subtle pattern - but not two tone like the C5.

I thought the current dial is handsome. Prior to seeing these pictures, I had no interest in the blue dial version. But after seeing these pics, I must say that it has caught my attention. Now, a pattern or texture is almost always desirable to me. The shininess does not bother me though. That's not to say that I might not like some other dial better, but this one is fine with me.

What you are considering bland, I was considering clean and uncluttered. However, for me to buy one for myself, it would still need to say Automatic on the dial. :D

Have to say that the Kingfisher design is definitely growing on me now that I've seen the photos, especially the blue and cream dials. At first I didn't think I would as I really liked the preliminary designs of the diver with the smaller sub-dial for the seconds, based on the Unitas movement - I'd still really like to see CW do something with that watch design as I'de be very interested in it (maybe in a design based on his original 'automotive' style).
I like the two tone bracelet as well and the NDL table on the back of the Kingfisher. I don't mind a quartz movement, though auto would be a nice addition.

So when can we expect it to be available?

I think the watch, as pictured, is gorgeous and I would buy one right now!
But as others said, it should most definitely be automatic.
The 2 color with black bracelet is also perfect, I hope thats standard.
Would also be awesome if the watch were titanium, at least as an option.
