Re: CW watches getting smaller and smaller

As an observer of the watch media for a number of years I found that the move to smaller watches began five or six years ago with just a trickle of articles bemoaning the lack of tiddlers. The trickle became a flood about 3 - 4 years ago and there is the, not unexpected, presumption from the online ...

This article is fine evidence that everyone has an opinion. I do struggle with the idea that one watch size is perfect for everyone as the author claims. I'd say this article is worth exactly what I paid for it.

Re: Admin Team visits CW Towers

There’s more than one CW tower? More towers than Gormenghast. Thank the satirical magazine "Private Eye" for the "Towers" reference and no thanks to AVO for reminding me of Gormenghast or, more properly Titus Groan/Gormenghast/Titus Alone. Just don't read Titus Alone. It's truly...

Re: GO Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition

Funk-tastic baby. People forget that GO offer some great watches at their price point. Shame about the strap, yeah baby but the font they use at 12 and 6 o'clock almost make up for it. And a quick strap change will work all sorts of magic, I'm sure.

This surely would have been worn right at home if worn by the cast of the TV show “Space 1999”!

I always think this should have been worn by Colonel Straker in Gerry Anderson's UFO.

Oh, and many congratulations, Ferg.

This is what you get when you "poke" the linguistic bear. :dielaughing: What? Response? Discussion? Elaboration? Affirmation? Repudiation? The life blood of forums! You've clearly never spent much time on photography or audio forums where tribalism, vituperation and virule...

Re: CW Survey

Mark I agree that homage isn’t necessarily bad. However if you think an Aquitaine is a copy of a BP FF, I conclude that you you never tried on a BP FF… However I think we probably both agree that any watch that is just a direct clone of a well known watch, whether sterile or showing a pretend...

Re: CW Survey

I just checked my inbox and had one too. I actually enjoyed taking that one. Ranking attributes was pretty cool and well thought out. Did anyone else put “Swiss Made” last? I think I had Swiss made at 10 of 11 around the same position as "brand heritage". I liked the question about are CW...

Re: CW beaten by Seiko? Vote now to help

Seiko won 66% to 34%. Oh well. It's hard to beat the Seiko fandom :D You make it sound as if the only way they won was because of fandom, and that Seiko wouldn’t have won without outside help. Even tho a dedicated forum was asked to help out. A tad ironic in my view. I'm not a fan of either watch, ...

Re: The Do Your Research Theme

As a digression, in my little science world I often find younger scientists believing the answers that instruments give them without knowing enough of the theory to know if the answers are right or need some thought before being presented. It's something I frequently have to mention and correct. Ho...

Re: The Do Your Research Theme

@albionphoto I know precious little about science, but a good friend of mine is a very good science teacher and is always going on about controls, fair tests and making reasoned guesses. A lot of my research recently has been to do with history in various countries. One very good friend of mine who...
