Re: Trident GMT - Is my GMT hand wrong?

Apparently the GMT hand is simply force fitted on the stem, so a sudden shock can make it move on the stem. I know one CW hero on here that had his fixed, only to knock it on the doorframe when leaving No. 1 only to realise it had moved again

Re: Tech question re. ETA 2893-2 (Trident GMT)

Both my Rolex GMT II and my Seiko Kinetic GMT work the right way! Simply set the ‘GMT’ hand to your desired ‘Home’ time and then simply spin the main hour hand back or forward by the desired amount to the local time as needed, changing the date on the way if required. I used to mock Gary and his Rol...

Re: Any Diabetics Out There?

Thanks for sharing your story Rob. Unfortunately, we the family can only influence so much and my Dad takes the leaflets, listens to advice from the experts, family etc and then chooses to ignore the majority of it. He's so focused on the dementia and the problems that it brings, that he's unwillin...

Re: Any Diabetics Out There?

Unfortunately Im no longer in a position to give such advice. I had well controlled Type 2 for 16 years and was a typical fat middle aged guy with T2 & high blood pressure who couldn’t walk 20 feet  ! My consultant told me the medication was no longer working so in August 16 I had a Mini ...

Re: Holidays - planned & dream ones

Well, as We are facing a Brexit related emigration we are gonna have a week all inclusive in Cyprus, then, if we get the ‘nod’ we have a week in Haarlem planned to look for apartments etc in Haarlem & Amsterdam. If we don’t get the ‘nod’ it will be a week planning our emigration to Oz. Best Holi...

Re: is there space in your collection for a 'quirky' watch??

Yes, I briefly had an Eone for a short while. They would, I imagine, be very useful for the blind/partially sighted and work with a magnet controlling a steel ball on the face for the minutes and a second steel ball around the end of the case for the hours. They are quite quirky but I guess possibl...

Re: Watches for lefties

The left hand watch isn’t for left handlers! It was originally designed for divers before take age of the screw down crown. There is footage of Cousteau complaining his watches kept flooding as the crown would be pulled out by the cuff of his wetsuit when diving. The solution, reverse the movement 1...

Re: Do you cyclists out there....

I do wear one but the infrastructure and law in this country (UK) doesn't help. You don't see many people wearing cycle helmets in Amsterdam or Copenhagen for example. The only time I have put a helmet to use was late in the day, after 4 pints, in a quiet pedestriansed urban park, where a tree jump...

Re: got the blues?

@rcherryuk - what do you think about the D1, Rob? I was tempted on the, now long gone, kickstarter campaign; particularly with the option of interchangeable bezels. The blue sunray on the dial looks excellent. Guy Sent from my Xperia XZ Premium using Tapatalk Hi, I love it, unfortunately it needs t...

Re: Simple change of hands......

I must admit it was quite refreshing to be able to interact with Chris/Mike & Johannes himself to achieve this, it helped having his wife on my side advising how to do this though, But in the past I’ve had Chris on the phone at 10 on a Wednesday evening talk me through regulating my C8LE! I can’...
