Re: Tiber leather Watch Strap

I have a black XS. It’s good quality but I don’t wear it much (CW XSs are a bit short for me, the regulars are too long) so it hasn’t softened up much, and it is pretty thick at 4mm (both ends). Mine is a 20mm with a standard taper to 18mm at the buckle.

Re: Belated birthday / black Friday Bremont?

A little known fact is that when you send an MB in for service you can choose a different colour bezel, Do you mean the band around the case, rather than the bezel? Yes I do - my mistake. The coloured aluminium case ring in interchangeable. That means you can buy an orange MB and then change to a g...

Re: Belated birthday / black Friday Bremont?

Great buy Guy. You won’t be disappointed with the quality. Bremont’s are beautifully made, solid as a rock, but they are pricey. Customer service is excellent, so I guess you’re paying for that in the purchase price. A little known fact is that when you send an MB in for service you can choose a dif...

Handmade leather watch roll

I just received a handmade watch roll from Etsy seller dferichs. The quality is superb, and heat stamped initials are included. I’m really happy with it though I made a mistake and bought the quad version instead of the 3 watch version and it is on the large size - 26cm long and 10cm in diameter. It...

As the weather turns colder, a Magrette bronze gives a warm tone. I’ve listed this in Sales Corner in case anyone is interested.

Re: Learning to maintain a watch...

Learning how to maintain a watch to save on servicing costs is quite a decision! Not that I’m trying to discourage you from learning a new skill.... My watchmaker charges under £50 for a basic service on old automatic or manual wind watches. I’m being vague on costs because I’m pretty sure they were...

Re: Luxury watches...worth it?

I’m reading the question in 2 ways. Firstly, in a purely financial sense, are they worth it? No. The sum of the parts will never add up to the price, even when the cost of labour and other added value is taken into account. Now comes the second question: are they worth it to us as individual consume...

Re: C60 Trident 3 GMT Movement

ETA movements and their respective Sellita equivalents are virtually identical in function, but as I understand it the supply of ETAs is falling and they are becoming more expensive, and this trend has been happening for a while. While having one or the other doesn’t bother me, I’d be very surprised...

^^ Agree on the hands. I like a pointy hand, the sharper the better. The cricket bats are a bit podgy for my personal taste.

Thanks for sharing. Our interests change, and sometimes change back, and it looks like you’ve found something else to concentrate on, and it’s evidently doing you some good healthwise. Keep it up!

Re: Punching an extra hole in straps

I have the same and it works perfectly as long as you’re not yet at the part of the strap where the padding kicks in. Remember to measure twice, punch once, and don’t forget if you measure mid-hole to mid-hole, that point is the middle of the punch, not the edge. Sounds obvious but the first time I ...

If it is a hoax, what on earth would be the point? I can’t see what the hoaxer would get out of it.
