Lol, thanks. This is the point at which it’s embarrassingly obvious that I do very few miles and unless on a tour only when the sun’s out. But I’m also a little obsessive compulsive to keep the trinkets in good condition 😁

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

A quick ride out while the sun was shining this monring before the rest of the family was out of bed. Passed by the Badminton estate where all the verges were cordoned off and there was clearly some event being prepared for. Couldn't resist a photo opportunity down the track leading to the gatehouse...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

Not so much as my latest ride, but watching others ride. Today was the Prescott Bike Festival held at the Prescott Hill Climb in Gloucestershire- an annual event in support of the local Seven Freewheelers Bloodbike charity. Many folk pay a donation to run the hill and with a wide variety of ancient ...

Re: Non CW of the Day

Well, not so much WOTD but Watch of last week. The Scurfa has proven to be a brilliant grab-and-go holiday watch- good looking but not flashy, a comfortable rubber strap, 200m waterproof (so ready for a paddle) and cheap enough to not be too precious with it. No need for timing bezels, no fretting a...

Re: Pics from the walkers

Arrived home from a week in Spain- very close to the Algarve border. My first time in mainland Spain and absolutely loved it- hope I'm back again soon. This view inland after a walk along a (some 8km!) stretch of beach.

Love the tiny chisel-like chamfer on the end of the AT hour hand.

Re: My second ever watch has developed leanings...

Lol! The movement is likely circular and has rotated- misaligning the pushers in the process. Back off, change battery, tweak the movement around, say a few hail marys, bish bash.

Re: Certina

I've had a couple of Certina dress watches and a quartz chronometer diver. To me they represent some pretty solid value for money. Decent Swiss movements and some good finishing. The quartz precidrive watches I had was nice but it had a pretty thin and poor bracelet which cheapened the whole watch b...

Re: Fun Fact Friday

Friday 9 June. We've seen single-handed watches which have only one hand which rotates once every 12 or 24 hours; the point being that while the displayed time might be precise enough to portray a reference for major events during the day (lunch, The Archers, bedtime, taking your meds etc), you're n...

Stolen from the Sunday Times-

“Toast Toppers — which consisted entirely of salt embedded in a kind of greyish, lumpen mucus, like the expectoration of a very ill tramp, and was unspeakably delicious.”
