Speedmaster II Then and Now

The recent arrival of another Speedmaster II on the forum prompted me to do a side by side comparison of the original and the re-issue - something I have been intending to do for a while, so here goes.... To start off here is the re-issue version that I have had for a few years now: DSC_0706.JPG It ...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

Re the heated grips, I found that hand guards made a big difference by taking the wind blast off the hands - not aesthetically great, but easily fitted / removed for summer / winter use.

Re: New Steinhart ceramic Green bezel

The 39mm is released - this could be the only dive watch I need......... Cheers, Paul Picking it up?. Pennies for completely unnecessary elective spending are in short supply at the moment as I have recently spent a few thousand on my tractor and am currently upgrading one of our holiday cottages r...

Re: A Lasting Legacy - Important News from Christopher Ward

I still await the rebranding.... Yes, surely if there is to be another 'competing Ward' brand with the man himself involved, then retaining "Christopher Ward" is not viable? Depending on the nature of the products this new brand could sweep up a whole segment of buyers who feel disenfranchised by t...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

Not so much of a ride as a gentle push from the back of a van to my garage... My new (to me) Honda arrived. 2019 CB1100EX, definitely pampered by the original owner and cleaner than any used bike has a right to be. My challenge will be to keep it looking decent whilst ensuring I enjoy using it. Thi...

Re: What are your other “addictions?”

Tools! I have a tendency to buy tools, sometimes just in case that never get used, or, get bought for a specific job, then never used again! Ah, I forgot about tools - I still have many tools from my apprenticeship 30+ years ago, all identifiable by being stamped with my initials to prevent my fell...

Re: A Lasting Legacy - Important News from Christopher Ward

I don’t agree and feel that this is where you were ‘hard’ or at least clunky and heavy handed. Your tone came over as a formal order/instruction rather than a friendly request! We all know that the written word is not ideal to convey tone and so much more care should be taken by moderators not to a...

Re: Enjoyable harmless hobby or expensive addiction?

To quote George Best..... I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." If the experience of wanting, acquiring, enjoying ( albeit for a limited time) high end watches is what you enjoy then so be it. Just indulge yourself! Of course there is another two step rou...

Re: Educating kids, fun with watches

Call me a grumpy old git, but there is no way I would let small sticky fingers get anywhere near any of my watches. Grandson or otherwise. I agree that small children need to be educated, entertained and inspired by exploring their dexterity........ and that's why Lego was invented  Cheers, Paul

Re: What are your other addictions?

My watch addiction has stagnated for a couple of years, partly due to a change in lifestyle but mostly because I am more than content with what I have. However, other addictions include: Vintage Hi-Fi which, possibly contentiously, I think sounds a lot better than new stuff. I currently have 11 sets...

Re: What's in Name?

^^^^ You are absolutely right - as of this moment in time there are no CW watches that float my boat, but I will have a continued interest in the brand. If they produce something that I really like I will seriously consider buying again - we all struggle to resist new and shiny things! As long as th...

Re: Blue is the Colour - SOTBDWC nbg - January 2020

Seiko certainly do some interesting blue dials. This is my current favourite. https://i.postimg.cc/L4knM26b/1-E9-F53-C5-ED7-E-40-B6-B7-E5-625-EE796-D79-B.jpg WRT the comments concerning their size. Yes on paper their dimensions would seem large, however in my experience they wear well, in particula...
