Re: Coronavirus

Tough times for the self employed ( me for many years and still technically am as director of a limited company ) but a difficult task to figure out an appropriate level of support with so many paying themselves the minimum to qualify for NI and then the rest in dividends, or leaving surplus money i...

Re: Coronavirus

Currently there is a danger of applying London appropriate measures to the whole country - calling for all construction sites to shut down because in London the construction guys use public transport is madness. Having worked extensively in construction it is the case that outside of London most guy...

Re: #OneGoodThing #coronavirus #covid19

Started new job on Monday ( after just under 2 years of early retirement I was getting a bit bored and needed to widen my horizons ) and completed day 1 which was mostly admin. Got half way though day two and was sent home due to you know what. Now here's the thing - I am on full pay for doing nothi...

Re: Coronavirus

While the supermarkets have been decimated by idiots panic buying everything from bog roll to flour, onions and sultanas, the smaller & independent shops in our local town still have pretty much everything available. I guess when you know the people in the shops and they know you its a touch more u...

Re: Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Watch In Green..

That is a really nice looking watch - as are some other Hamiltons that I have seen.

Unfortunately I could never bring myself to have something on my wrist which, every time I looked at it, would make me think of the obnoxious and petulant F1 driver who shares the name!

Re: Coronavirus

PaulJS, is the opposite not true for your holiday cottages? I would have thought that UK holidays would be snapped up with the absence of international travels. We’re booked up for South Devon this year and have every intention of going....... Yes, you would think so but, according to our travel bo...

Re: Coronavirus

In Devon on a family weekend with my wife’s aged parents and wife’s sister and her husband. I have been banned from discussing COVID-19. Chatting to the restaurant manager at lunch today, occupancy this time last year 60% (normal for March). Now 15%. Noticed the tables were further apart than usual...

Re: Six Nations 2020

It's a funny old game when Joe Marler can brazenly 'interact' with Alan Wyn Jones' wedding tackle with not even a comment and a bit of handbags results in a red card! Maybe Joe Marler was just trying to verify the old saying that rugby is a game played by men with odd shaped balls  I am not say...

So... I spent much of the afternoon watching the second hands of my other Citizen eco-drives go around their dials....

Re: Coronavirus

Neil, I didn't take offence but my response was a bit flippant and, to answer your question, I am often the sort of person who is suspicious of "experts" simply because they often have their own agenda! However, on this occasion, my views are formulated having taken counsel from my father in law wh...
