Re: Coming: the ultimate C60 Trident Pro 300

Titanium... tricky. Grade 2 titanium is considered to be commercially pure titanium. Grade 5 titanium is an alloy of titanium with aluminium and vanadium. Grade 5 titanium is considered to be the most common aerospace grade alloy of titanium. It is harder, much more difficult to machine (expensive t...

Re: 25.1.24 teaser

C63 Sealander has a lot of sales in the US. The US also likes white dials. The US is about 30 - 35% of CW sales. Adding a more unisex size (oh how I hate that term) and a GMT too just makes sense. It expands the US and Rest of World (perhaps) sales. Whether I like it or not, I think it's a good move.

Sam of Casual Watch Reviews has a good interview with Jorg Bader Jr. about the 36mm GMT

Re: 25.1.24 teaser

Oh now you aren't really trying and we all know that you know it too! My fam are seven hours behind so who needs a watch to inform things? It's not about need it's about desire  that "wouldn't it be nice" moment....just like the basic timekeeping function. It's after ten at ni...

Re: Surprises from a trip to the Omega Boutique - Apollo 8 and Paris

The Saturn V going upside down kills it for me. It's a legendary heavy lift rocket that went up.... Went up in smoke and flames  (The Rocketdyne F-1 is still the most powerful rocket engine ever produced.) The Saturn V hand is a bit of a gimmick. It's tiny and you can't see the details without...

Re: Surprises from a trip to the Omega Boutique - Apollo 8 and Paris

So… How much more does the new Apollo 8 cost than the previous model? Emperors new clothes?  Neil From memory it's 4k dollars more. It does take six times longer to make than an ordinary speedmaster. Whatever you think of the Saturn V hand it certainly demonstrates that Omega have a 5 - ...

Re: Surprises from a trip to the Omega Boutique - Apollo 8 and Paris

I love the new detail on the Apollo 8! There are so many Speedmaster special editions I’d enjoy viewing, even as own none and likely never will. The palette and the presentation of the DSOTM just may be the pinnacle for me. The Paris ed is interesting for the variety but it doesn’t move the needle ...

Re: Surprises from a trip to the Omega Boutique - Apollo 8 and Paris

Is the Paris to commemorate the summer Olympics? Yes, that's right. It has a little Paris Olympics medallion on the back. It was covered with a label and, as I wasn't buying, I didn't ask to have the label removed. It also has the 2024 Olympics logo on the second hand. It was first announced as bein...

Surprises from a trip to the Omega Boutique - Apollo 8 and Paris

I had a text from my local Omega boutique this morning. "Did I want to come in and see some surprises?" Heck, yeah... The new Speedmaster Apollo 8. (They had two and sold one whilst I was there...) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53476200186_0ede063e20_o.jpg Apollo8 wrist by Mark Wheel...

Re: TEN more LIMITED EDITION BEL CANTOS

To be fair to CW they did claim the the Bel Canto 9324 has a deeper and richer blue than the original. The available images make any differences hard to discern. I don't think CW have authored a name for this "new" blue yet.

Re: TEN more LIMITED EDITION BEL CANTOS

That blue is awfully close to the original Azzuro Blue version. It is a different watch with the textured dial and (yuck) roman numerals but the colour might have some people asking questions.

I will be attending too.

Re: Interview with Mike Pearson - more for the US than UK but interesting

Thanks Kip. The outside world frequently mis-understands the forum and struggles to understand how it can be owned by CW but be operated independently. It is an asset to CW in so many ways. I'm sure Mike will enjoy interacting with you and the moderator team.

Interview with Mike Pearson - more for the US than UK but interesting

The new CW Brand Director for North America, Mike Pearson, was interviewed by Jason of Watch Rolling. I think Kip has some work to do... :D :D :D
