A faithful friend!

OK, I know it's only an old Casio Illuminator with a scratch on the glass, but location is everything, and this watch has a story! http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m575/SteveH251/Watches/10082011574.jpg http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m575/SteveH251/Watches/10082011597.jpg Earlier this week I...

Re: Why the lack of love for quartz?

It really is a very subjective thing. Once you pay more than £20 for a watch, it's not about telling the time any more, it's about something else. I'm not sure what, but I guess that's what we're all trying to work out  Absolutely...it's about aesthetics, and that can mean looks, feel, hearing...

Re: 2012 FLE (#1?) Blue Final Drawings

Very, very nice indeed! Been watching developments from Internet cafes in Spain and just found the drawings when I got home. I will definitely want to order this!

Re: CW newbie question: how do I tell which movement I have?

An excellent "nom de net" if I may say so, and one which apparently has many meanings (see here)

So glad you like the watch...I'm sure you'll ve back for more! :D

As a complete novice on automatic movements, do the experts think there's a significant difference? :?

Re: C70 Set completed - MC has arrived

The C70 MC has arrived in all its glory. As always, a much better looker than my photos can convey. The Monte Carlo has a much more subtle appearance than the others in the Grand Prix series. There is a certain elegance that the others don't have. That certain smile, you mean? :D Nothing wrong with...

Re: How often do you see strangers wearing a CW?

Confusing, isn't it? It's to do with our English use of the word "Dutch" Their word for their own nationality and language is "Nederlands" Their word for German is "Duits", just as the German word for German is "Deutsch" Whereas we confuse them by referring to "Nederlands" as "Dutch", which is what ...

Re: Here are a Few pictures

Sorry, I didn't perhaps phrase that very well. When I said "off-topic" what I meant was that I didn't want to deflect attention from your superb collection. However, if I were in your position, I would find it a bit galling that the cupboard is bare.
Apologies, no offence meant!

Re: Reliable repairer in Hampshire ?

I'd forgotten about this thread, and Yoda's suggestion seems to imply permission to branch out beyond the borders of Hampshire, so for carrot-crunchers... Michlmayr in Norwich. I originally bought my old Omega from them, and when it got sick after I dropped it, they restored it to full working order...

A real marathon - great effort, Kip! 8)
Do you have any idea of the likely timeline for orders? (I'm abroad for a while and don't want to miss out...guess I'll have to visit the odd internet cafe!) :D
