Re: What WAS I thinking of?

i completely agree but did wonder how many decades before a brand like CW can consider its past as inspiration. Three?

Re: What WAS I thinking of?

My initial thought was ‘why don’t CW make watches like this any more’.
My second thought was ‘how long before a heritage series.......’

Re: “You and Your Watches” - 10 questions

Martin 1. How did you become interested in watches, and when? My recollection of my first watch was a Smiths handwound child’s watch when I was about 6 or 7. This would be early 1960s when a wristwatch was pretty essential. It had a tan leather strap. Fast forward to the mid noughties and, after a l...

Re: What’s time doing for you now?

Thank you so much for this. The first interesting and thought provoking post I have seen in days. Having retired five years ago I feel that the past few years have in part, prepared me for the current situation. Time no longer dictates to me; I get up to make tea when I wake up. It might be 5.30 or ...

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 21

This is my fourth day indoors. Today, for the first time in over 62 years, I am relishing the prospect of cleaning the house. Expect an entry in ‘what are you drinking now’ later this evening.

Re: Why Keep This Forum Going?

I think it is hugely in CW’s favour that there has never been any official intervention or contribution to the forum. To do so would be the first step on a very slippery slope. I am sure there have been occasions when temptation to interact, retort or just explain has been strong. What they do get i...

Re: FLE #8 design submissions

Thanks.
It is very strange looking at the same watch in each mock up, knowing there are colour differences but not being able to see them.

Re: FLE #8 design submissions

Just a largely irrelevant comment as this FLE is not for me: as someone who is very colour blind all of the Dartmouths on this page look identical.(!).

Ah! On the previous page now.

Re: Why Keep This Forum Going?

I suspect jtc is right. I joined over ten years ago, a time when internet forums were more popular perhaps. I joined, knowing next to nothing about watches, simply being fed up with cheap quartz pieces that looked tatty and worn after six months. Slowly, I have learned a little and have bought quite...

Re: Would you buy a plug in electric car?

It’s ok banging on about charging infrastructure on journeys, but I want to know what they are going to do for people who have no driveways and park on the road? Is there gonna be a charging point every 5 yards on each pavement? Sorry, full plug in electric will never work. Not in my lifetime anywa...

Re: Would you buy one of these as the next Forum Limited Edition?

Not sure it is a proper FLE. Seems we are offered little or no input. After the previous two FLEs I can understand why. Will a substantial deposit up front be a requirement?
Anyway, not for me.

I believe cars have a bleak future, however they are fuelled. I don’t think us as individuals will have a choice.

Re: What happened to CW?

worth remembering the staff who must turn up every day and face a potential barrage of angry customers. Why should that be, as it’s the staff who are the problem!! A rather harsh and perhaps ignorant comment. Remember: all you need is love. (and a much improved service and repair set up staffed by ...

Re: Bad experience with Christopher ward watch and it's customer services

Some thoughts: I do remember CW first offering a watch service. I think it was £99 for an automatic. They serviced my C5 Aviator. The job got done but seemed a little uncoordinated. Different people in the organisation had no idea if anyone else had raised a job number/ seen the watch/ any knowledge...
